You are right. I think I am the problem in my mind. If the evidence show that the pool of new hires from wherever they come from will not, cannot or refuse to run in the old ways as we did for a hundred years then we might as well start getting robot trucks tomorrow. I would be a dinosaur.
If any of human failings or strengths, I have a spirit that is almost like a horse able to run in any situation for a very long time even though the western land and weather may not support life. The money and all the other things associated with the thing called living and building a home, family and so on will fall into place. Endurance is a trait that I had a great deal of. Trucking was a very good fit for that.
I feel like maybe I should just stop here, because if the greater number of young ones don't want to endure whatever our customers and freight requires then it's a real split.

If I joined Maverick, where would I load out in the Atlanta area and what lanes would I be running? Do they have anything going West from Georgia?
truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
Closest place to Atlanta is probably Richburg SC. Guardian plant. Loads go everywhere Inc Canada. West maybe to about Texas. Never went to California from there.

I just talked to a Maverick recruiter about the glass division. OTR at 50cpm first 6 months. I'm going to just be getting into the industry when I finish up my time with the military. Seems like that's a pretty decent starting pay for someone inexperienced. Reading through this thread, I see it's basically flat bed but glass. Still tarping loads etc etc. Anything else to expect? I hear pretty good things about Maverick as a whole. The recruiter did say that she wasn't super knowledgeable about the glass division so she didn't want to tell me anything incorrectly, so I'm just trying to look at everything.
Thanks y'all. Just want to make sure I have options to take care of the family when I transition outLepton1 Thanks this.
