The first year they take out $75.00/week but put back in $37.50. The second year they put back $75.00. It takes two years to have the loan obligation paid back. If one leaves prior to the two years the entire amount is due.
After four months I could write a book about this company. I won't start here 'cause someone would have to stop me. What a piece of work. Word has it they are getting set up to file bankruptcy. Would not be a surprise given everything I've heard both from Swift and outside of Swift. WAY too many red flags. I'm lined up with another company whenever I want. Just need to make sure I'm close to home when I tell them I'm done as I could bet once someone tells them they are done, they are done right then and there and take a bus ride home. I have the "luxury" of being in control, for the time being anyway and want it to remain that way.
In a nutshell, after 40+ years of employment and self-employment I have never been so used and abused. Driving for Swift is a case of slave labor.
It really hit home a while back when I broke a finger on the job (flat bedder). The company is self-insured by the way and this cost them a ton. Ambulance with all kinds of tests on the way to the hospital. Shock had set in, they suspected heart attack, etc., etc. Lots of other stuff at the hospital. Anyway, since then on two ocassions, my driver manager has said this is a negative on my record indicating the expense to the company which I caused. Not a word with regard to how I was.
So when they claim "safety" as being number one, the only reason it's number one is that anything other than that hits them in the wallet.
It has nothing to do with keeping the driver safe. It's all about the dollar,
at ANY expense.

Just to be clear what you say about Swift has valid points. It really depends on the terminal that you work out of. I drove for Swift till last Nov when my student was killed while he was driving down I5 in Washington. I was doing paperwork in the back and was injured. Still on disability to this day but the Swift people here could not of been better to me or my students family. And no, in WA state, it's a no fault state; when your hurt on the job, so they were not worried about a suit being filed. I am sorry you were also hurt on the job, I hope your better now.

Actually....WRONG. First part is right, they take out $75, and repay you $37.50, so they are really only taking $37.50 to pay the loan. Once you finish your first 13 months, you are all settled up...you don't owe them anything, tuition is paid for. You still keep getting $37.50 for another 13 months, after THIS TIME......schooling is totally free. Once you reach your 13 month benchmark, you no longer owe anything for tuition....your half is paid. If you leave after 13 months, then you've paid $1950 for schooling. it only takes one year to have the loan obligation paid, not two.Baack Thanks this.

Well I see not alot of happy people hear,And I am thinking about driving for them,As a driver for many year's you hear all kinds of talk and unhappy driver's.I mostly found that it relate's to the person on how they treat other's.If you have problems with a person keep it to yourself. This way you can look for something else that would more suite you and not carry it with you to your next career choice or driving job.I once drove a truck for a company that the cab was wire'd down and chained so it wouldn't flip up,It was a superliner in it's day that should of been put out too paster long ago.The exhust pipe was the heater and deforster was two fan's nice hah no A/C or power steering just muscel yours,The floor had so much drit on it you flet like you were in the field playing ball.So when you been and drove the kinds of trucks I have then when a company offers you a fairly new truck with everythang you ever wanted in a truck you would be more thankful for it and be glad your not driving that old old truck.
