Company truck, international 9200, factory mirror mount. With the fiberglass antenna that was on the truck the on radio meter(factory cobra 29lx)was showing swr at about 2-2.5. Swapped to a Wilson 2000 with 10" shaft and am now showing 2.5-3 swr and the antenna warning pops up when keyed. I haven't swapped mounts or run a new coax yet , was hoping to get by without having to do so. On a plus side the Wilson picks up much better.
Swapped antenna now antenna warning from radio

If it is less resonant, better receive isn't likely. Have you checked your grounds?

Solved. I found the coax I had hooked up in my last ride and hooked it up. No more antenna warning and the needle barely moves on the built in meter when checking the swr.

Can't explain but everything was coming in louder and clearer than it was with the fiberglass antenna

I have that same radio and the factory SWR meter consistantly read 1.1- 1.3:1 across the board. Then I put an external meter on it and realized the SWR was actually a bit higher. If it were me, just to be safe, I'd check it with an external. It shouldn't be too far off but I'd hate to see you ruin a good radio if it was inaccurate. Good luck and be Safe!
