I just bought myself an 05 columbia with a 435 hp c-15 cat and a 13 speed
this is my first truck after driving for others for the last 14 years
I have decided to lease it on with greatwide here in OKC because I am currently driving a fleet owners truck and I know I can make a decent living and still cover the truck payments and even save some decent cash for maintenance and such
the truck comes with a 2 year major systems warranty and a 1 year on the smaller stuff like the turbo, a/c, clutch and injectors
it hsd 425000 miles on it and from everything I can tell it appears to be in pretty good shape, the brakes are good and the tires are new virgin rubber all the way around
this truck came out of a large fleet and has good maintenance records
I have a bunch of questions about starting a trucking company in oklahoma if anyone wants to volunteer to answer them I would appreciate it
most of my questions are stupid ones but please bear with me
do I need to register a trade name with the oklahoma dept of commerce?
do I have to apply decals showing that trade name on the truck?
is physical damage and bobtail insurance the only types I need or will I have to add a liability policy like I have on my personal vehicle?
I will add more questions as I think of them
I went and did a fool thing

Not sure if this helps and I may be a little off. When I bought my other truck, I was told I could run it as a sole proprietorship and did not need a business name. I wanted to open a business checking acct and eventually get an LLC. I came up with a not so clever business na,e, sent it in to the state with a $25 check. I got confirmation of the name (dba) and then ran my doing business as in 2 local newspapers for 2 weeks.
I went on line to the IRS and got an EIN number.
Since I was leased on with a company, I am not required to have my own business name on the truck. I just have "leased to" and then the company name and their DOT number.
I still use my DOT number for my IFTA filings.
All I have is physical damage and bobtail ins coverage. I believe the rest is covered by the company.
I hope this helps. Obviously it may be different state to state. The Challenger and goose19726 Thank this. -
are you getting your truck from Select trucks? if you are make sure you get it checked out by someone not connected to freightliner.Good Luck Walt

Selectrucks is owned by Freightliner. By having it check out by a CAT dealer he can get an honest opinion on what kind condition the truck is in, motor and other stuff.

If you clearly read what goose was saying, he has a C15 in a Freightliner, so in this case it is wise to do that. If it were a detroit, take it to a detroit shop.

oh well, I didn't read it

Well I found 264 2005 Freightliner trucks that feature a CAT engine MM. I can pm them to you if you want.
