They weren't to horribly bad last I knew, my husband left them a year ago after being with them for several years due to lower freight volumes and certain brokers that thought he was obligated to run their cheap freight (he was with them prior to going out fully on his own). He then leased on with Admiral Motor, which ironically had a lot of the same brokers as Pacer. It use to be hit or miss with the brokers, some would rob you blind if you'd let them. Was funny because I had the log in for the Pacer site for the year and would compare the brokers rate on there to what they showed on Admiral (again they shared a lot of the same brokers) and would see they'd undercut on one versus the other (for example if they had a load on Pacer paying $1800 they might show it on Admirals for $2000 or vice versa). The place that my husband use to run out of (which is one of the main reasons he left Pacer to get away from those brokers in particular) is about to go belly up and sell all their trucks, last I knew they were still running under the Pacer name.
Some companies offer more by way of covering tags and road taxes, etc. while others won't or deduct it from you. I heard Pacer started making drivers pay for their own road tax if they left them and re-signed on. Not sure how true that is either. Funny thing they sent my husband a statement the other day saying him owes them over $4000 from the 5 months he was there last year, it's listed as Homeland Security...what? Yeah ok, good luck getting that now. It's not a bill, just a settlement type of statement that left my eyes rolling. This one guy that left the same time he did to go to Admiral too didn't receive one, so guess we're the special ones.
Take it as you will, brokers are brokers, some better than others, much like companies in general are. Good luck in your search for a decent one to sign with!

Ok thanks for the info. I keep hearing bad things about these guys but ive talked to some of their drivers and some seem very happy there. Well who knows one things for sure freight rates have gone to hell. I was laid off from my previous employer well my contract was terminated due to lack of freight which i feel bad about because i made #### good money with them probably wont find another company like that anytime soon...
