Amazon's new Georgia fulfillment center will add 1,000 jobs: governor
Georgia will be home to a new Amazon fulfillment center that’s set bring 1,000 new jobs to the state, the governor announced Wednesday

 

Pretty good jobs with Amazon.
Building one in Las Vegas also and first round of hiring is for 1000 employees at a starting pay of $15 hr.

 

Here's the problem; that's Congresswoman Omar territory. Unionized Muslims.
"The Minnesota strike follows other activism by Amazon warehouse workers in Minnesota, including a three-hour strike in March for better working conditions and calls last year for more prayer time and reduced workloads during fasting for Ramadan led by East African Muslim immigrants."

 

Similar problems in Tennessee at a chicken processing plant. Hired 100's of Somali Muslims and they wanted something like 5 prayer breaks a day. They were spending more time laying on a prayer rug than working on the production line.

 

In Las Vegas $15.00 hr. is almost double the minimum wage. Amazon doesn't have to pay $15 hr. Amazon can pay minimum wage and still find 1000 employees, but Jeff Bezo's pays $15 hr for unskilled workers.
Working in fast food shouldn't be the lifetime goal of a worker. Fast food should be a short stepping stone to high quality jobs. Work in fast food while attending trade school, community college, etc.

 

I'd rather work for $15 hr. than draw unemployment checks. I've never been unemployed though. Some people would starve before leaving their comfort zone zip code. Plenty of truck drivers making $100K+ because they're willing to go where the work is instead of griping and complaining and blaming others because they don't feel they're being paid what they think they're worth.
