Interesting reading here.Yeah trucking is a different life.I am now etired and I dont miss it one bit. There are those days when there just aint time to take a shower, then there are days with time up the wazoo when you could take a dozen showers and not miss anything.Just some things you have to get used to,if your gonna succeed.I found that if you go along and do a good job,on time pick ups and deliveries, and you have a good dispatcher, they will start taking care of you.Making your life on the road a little easier.

Road Dog,
Congradulations! Are you working or anything now? -
Would depend on their policy but yes you can do it and before the apu I did run my truck and just remember, every thing is legal long as you dont get caught. That is my way of thinking when driving a truck but I retired from the outlaw trucking 8 years ago.A good thing to remember is do only what you feel safe doing and do not listen to any driver not even me.Hope this helps you out
-
One thing to remember... Anything you do that's wrong or not legal is a direct reflection on you and your company. If you get caught doing something you shouldn't the penalty is not only yours to bear but the companys as well. Do you want to do something that may follow you for years and/or cost your company many dollars in fines?

That is true but going 5 over the speed limit in Virginia is illegal but never got a ticket, the ones going 10 over do but on the freeway I ran 1 under for thats how fast my truck was,64.If you get a ticket for idling your truck you pay it not your company for they have signs posted so any company will say the same, did you not see the signs and you being the driver it is your fault for not obeying the law.I never did a thing to put other drivers in harms way unlike what you see now a days, its the old saying,Hurry up to wait! As for the idle go into any place in NJ and see how many trucks are running to stay warm.Thank you,Chasing Tomorrow

I had a cop knock on my door in New York last year and said he had been doing paperwork in his car right next to me for over a hour and i had been idleing the whole time and needed to shut my truck off. I was in a rest area and it was 105 degrees out. I said to him, "You have been in your car for over an hour watching me while doing paperwork." he said "Yes" i pointed to his car and said "That same car that is running right there" He said "Yes" Then i asked him" You have the nerve to tell me while iam slepping in 105 degree weather while you run you car and do paperwork to turn my truck off" He looked at me with a stupid look, "Yes" I told him " Take your hands of the side of my truck and leave the ticket on the window" When i woke up that night, there was no ticket. If its hot, run the truck. I do in California all the time, never been messed with.

Is there a class action lawsuit pending against Werner right now? Any Info? I mean they are screwing these students hard, Myself being one.
Promised a Job, got my 300 hours done, yet no job available for me.
Yet a girl I went to truck driving school with just got a job and her own truck on the account they tell me their is no jobs available for.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm...
Also, Nu Way Truck Driving School in Pontiac and Detroit presses everyone to go to Werner. They wouldn't give me my cert until I scheduled an Orientation date with Werner because I wasn't prehired by TMC yet.
I went to TMC first, but laid off after 3 weeks. At least they paid my unemployment because there wasn't a job for me.
Werner is sticking it to me..Last edited by a moderator: May 21, 2009

64, has to be a Werner truck. They set them all at 65.
I do know there are some! That is great like that.
SMART MAN! Good luck in whatever you are doing now.
I will tell you what I know. But first, get away from Werner!!!! That goes for everyone. As for CDL schools, I must say Werner has a cut in alot of them. Thats the way they make money. They strike a deal and tell these schools to send them their graduates and in return pay for you.
They promise you a beautiful truck and work right away, well if you are the lucky one. Every once in a while, for them to look like they do as they say, they do give one a truck and some work.
They arent fair. The company is out for themselves and dont care. You know their logo WERNER Cares, well I am Italian and I say something else but sorry, cannot post it here.Last edited by a moderator: May 21, 2009

I have been looking and a lot are not hiring students so I would find one before quitting Werner,I know the student and trainer both fill out a form, the student on how the trainer was and if the trainer says you need more training you are screwed till he/she says you are ready.I have seen how much Werner is hated, you go to pass a truck and they see its a Werner truck they will speed up so you cant pass them, then fat mouth you on the CB for you are in the left lane slowing down the fast trucks
All or most will lie to you to get you to work for them!
