1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

by all means...vent if it makes you feel better (though i can't beleive that it will)

well like someone already said. companies are trying ot save money. not spend it. so yes they'll hire someone with no exp over someone with 2 or more years under them. i seen it done alot. also with the driver flood of 2008 lmfao. there more new guys willin to take that 22 CPM. then old diver wanting 68 CPM. if you owned a company. who would you pick. if you had trainers to send out with them. someone you can pay 22CPM or someone that wants 68CPM. if it was me and i had trainers willin to do this. i would go with the 22CPM. really sit down and fig it up. take 20 new drivers at 22CPM and take 20 at 68CPM. how much would you be savin a year. yes if you want to make sure nothing happens to the load pay the 68 CPM. but if you wanting to save money bring in as many as you can with out spending alot for it. hire the 22CPM. remember with what bush has done to us. this is the way of the world now

Well the company i work for has gotten worse but the opposite of most. When I got hired it took 6 months from the time my app was submitted, and 4 interviews later i finally got hired. They required a minimum of 500,000 miles on paper that was provable to even get considered. When our business went through the roof a few years ago they laxed down to 200,000 miles requirements but still it was a several month ordeal to get hired. since things have slowed back down they have gone back to the 500,000 miles requirements. Even though things are slow we still are busy. I feel fortunate to drive for a company that has increased profit every year for the last 25 years and never had a layoff in there 50 yr history, and that they actually treat us as family. My god we even have profit sharing bonuses still and that is completely unheard of now. I'm not bragging i'm just letting you know that their are still good people and companies to work for out there. I feel extremely fortunate to work for one of the few that are left.

Talked to a trucker today and he said that the shortage for truck drivers across this nation was at 20,000 jobs right now and that is even with our economy in shambles. He said that the babyboomers are fixin to retire, he is one of them. Said that when they do and the economy picked up there would be a shortage of about 100,000 or more trucking jobs across this nation... Trucking is a little down but it is like ROCK & ROLL, it will never die...

BigCountry, how exactly do you prove you have 500,000 miles on paper. Did they requires 4 years worth of logs? Or did they require verification from previous employers? Maybe I am missing something here.

Did that driver have brown eyes ? People that are that full of it usually do . There is NO shortage of drivers Every major carrier has hundreds of applications on file . When baby boomers retire there are tens of thousands of unemployed experienced drivers that will get their jobs .

Thats just the US born citizens of the USA
Nobody factors in the literal thousands of immigrants the Government is shipping every year and paying Companies $7500 a head to hire them.Huge discounts on power unit purchases put most at an operating advantage over the majority running 3 year old trucks.

Their under trained and handicapped with the English language which keeps our system in turmoil. The Somalian immi"grants" now make up 45% of our ground service fleet of 900-1K power units :biggrin_25516:

Well you had to have either be able to obtain verification in writing from previous employers, or DAC Report with said info, or they would also accept logs as a possible option. I sure wouldn't want to be the one that got to tally the logs for verification! :biggrin_25512:
