Greetings, new here and just started training at Central. In my opinion, for what it's worth, I think this is an excellent company and have been pleased with my training experience thus far.

Well i had an interesting day today. Definitely one for the books. Keep in mind i have probably had only 2 hours of sleep the night before do to the cold i have. It started out normal enough with the Truck and trailer getting washed, the empty weight for the shipper, a warning to me that this is going to be a heavy load. I get my pallets around 1pm and head for the shipper to get my load. I notice alot of Road construction going on in town, but no worries i have got plenty of time, you might say i am pacing myself. I get there and every truck driver there is running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I get checked in around 1:40 but i don't get into my door until 3:10. While i am in the process of getting loaded i notice an england driver having a problem getting his trailer to slide. Well the good guy in me decided to give the England driver a hand because i have been there before myself. So using 2 of the shippers wheel chocks, i block the wheels and the trailer slides to the 40' mark. The loading goes quick and i get my bills and as the question that all drivers ask when getting the bills is the gross wt listed is that also counting the pallet weight. When she said no i already knew i was going to be over weight. I head across town to the Truck stop and sure enough i was over gross by 420lbs. I head back across town and check back with the shipper to let them know i am over weight and they tell me to back into door three which is sitting next to a train car. the dock guy couldn't believe it when i open the doors he said i would not be able to open the doors with out moving the truck forward more. Of course i proved him wrong. I get backed in and the red light comes on. Not to much longer the green light comes on and i pull forward and i notice i feel a little heavier than i did when i backed in, i thought they were supposed to take some product off not put more on, i guess its because my tandems are all the way back that is making it feel heavier. so i pull forward about 8ft to close my doors and to my surprise there is a forklift and it's driver still in the back of my trailer. And me in the process of closing him in for the trip to Nebraska. He said to me what are you trying to kill me. I said what are you still doing in my trailer the ramp was down and i had a green light. So i said sorry let me back up and i will wait for you to tell me that you are done. I back up to the door real slow as to not pitch him and the forklift off the back of my trailer and he finished what he was doing and then gave me the go ahead and pull forward so he could re-seal my trailer. after it was sealed and my tandems back in place, we walked back to the office to get the bills and he said to me, don't tell anyone in the office what had happened as a matter of fact keep it a secret like the kind you take to your death. I said OK and didn't say a word about it. Come to find out after re-scaling the load i am now legal and they only removed 520lbs. I might have not said a word in the office but this was too go of a experience not to share it with the rest of the forum. JJRanch.
