If all else was more or less equal, I'd chose the one allowing more variety. Monotony and boredom will make a good job suck pretty quick.

    OldeSkool and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

One thing I need to ask all of them which I didn't think of until you said that is if I would be a cover driver at first which I imagine I would be. Call outs, vacations, etc. Covering while it can be a pain in the ### at times keeps everything from getting stale, when I was at UPS I was the highest seniority floater in the building just because I liked to switch things up and it let me pick and choose what I wanted to do most of the time.

    Yes. Humping beer/soda/food into stores.

    Lumper Humper Thanks this.
  6. well you live in Florida are used to not having air conditioning because Coke trucks don't have air conditioning on local runs..
but things have gotten easier for soda folk you do have electric pallet jacks so it's not having to hand jack a bunch of soda inside makes it a little bit easier...
McClain's just all the grocery store deliveries for places bike 7-Eleven sometimes fast food joints restaurants up and down the ramp sometimes Show Low sometimes with a team with McLane most McLane I see usually team..haven't done to UPS gig before that should be a plus for you if you don't mind no air conditioning and handling freight.

The UPS gig why everyone wanted to talk to me so that's a good thing. I went 15 years without ac in a truck so I imagine I could go a lil longer...that's not saying it doesn't suck tho lol. I'm going back to coke tomorrow night and I'm thinking I'm going to take it. It's close to home, pay is okay, they will get me my CDL back. The beer place had me with the new trucks but like @Long FLD said, I won't be driving it that much so does it really matter? McLane looks like a very solid gig but I don't know if I would stick it out because I'm basically using this as a step to get my license back, have a year+ in a tractor trailer immediately, and go look for a ltl line haul job. I had my heart set on trying otr just because it's something I always wanted to try but I won't last in it. The more I was ready to go I realized I can't be away from my daughter that long, I'd lose my ####ing mind. I figured if I do a line haul I could be home on weekends and that would be okay. I work nights now so it's not like I'm home during the week anyways, if I just had weekends home I would get a taste of being out on the road and still get to go fishing with my daughter on the weekends.

It's still on the table but I can make more driving and I do miss it. I'm 38 and have spent my whole adult life at one job, I'm checking every avenue before I jump because I don't want any regrets. Also trans am changed their tune with the helping me get my CDL back so that kinda soured it a lil bit. I would really like to have it back. download.jpeg
