Cam follower cover gasket swaps

Bump.

If I replace the camshaft, as mine has a slight nick in it from a busted pushrod, do I need to have the timing tool to do the timing or can i replace the follower gaskets with the same size shims that came off it and be ok? Or do I have to go thru all that timing hoopla again? Power has a good video on it just a little confusing at first. It is the same camshaft part number that came out of the BCIII not wanting to advance the timing at all.
