    Truck has an ISM installed.
Can a N14+ be put in this truck.
    It's a possible project.
The motor I have, the truck I might buy. If this is possible, with minor adjustments to truck.

I was told motors use the same ECM does that make the truck chasis/gauges electrical harness compatable?
    Thanks for the replies .

If it’s not, mawk will be able to make a harness.
    @Heavyd may know the answer.

My concern is if it will fit physically, without too much retrofitting.

I would measure the distance from the motor mounts from back to the front first.

With that being said, I think that the manufacturers make the engines and Chassis in such a way that the motor mounts are in the same place, especially if the truck originally had that kind of engine in it.

For example, my fld120 had a blown series 60 when I bought it. I put in a Cummins big cam and it fit perfectly. It fits so perfectly I had the midship driveshaft strapped up and forgot about it when I put the engine in and the drive shaft fit right into the Yoke on the transmission. The series 60 is quite a bit smaller yet everything fit perfectly.

However, if that model truck you are looking at had an n14 in it at some point, you would need the motor mounts that originally was on the n14 for that truck. That would make it much easier.

The fld120 had n14s in them and also big cams. I purchased the correct motor mounts that the n14/ big cam had for the fld120. The series 60 sat differently in the truck, and had spacers and the motor mounts on the bellhousing of the series 60 were in a different spot.

But with the right motor mounts everything fit perfectly.

So I would wager that if the model truck you want to put the n14 into originally was available with the n14 at some point, you should be fine.

If you do that, you should get a schematic from the manufacturer of how the motor mounts actually go together, whether there are any shims or anything else for that particular engine with that truck.

As far as the engine fitting in, you should be good to go.

Yes that truck model came with several motor options including N14.
    Thanks

We have never done a swap like this. I do believe you could get N14 in a 9200, but I am sure you will need to redo motor mounts and whatnot.

    xsetra and 062 Thank this.

The front mount on the n14 may be a standard mount.

I purchased the original Cummins mount for the Freightliner that mounted the big cam in the early 90s fld120. I bought that for another big Cam that I was going to put in. I eventually used a different engine that was a Recon Engine with low miles that came out of a Peterbilt.

That front mount that was on the 855 big cam that came out of the Peterbilt was the same exact mount that I purchased for the Freightliner.

The rear mounts were a different story. The Peterbilt rear mounts were something completely different from the Freightliner rear mounts.

This makes sense because the front crossmember is kind of a universal thing because whatever truck the engine goes into it sits on isolators and bolts go through it.

The rear mounts however, have to fit into the saddles for whatever particular manufacturer you put the engine into. The Saddles and the rear engine mounts are a matched set. They also have to make the right degree of pitch for the engine so that your drive shaft angles stay correct.

I would suggest that you find that model truck at a dealer somewhere near you that has an n14 and go flip the hood and look at the mounts and see how it sits in there.

Check it, but I suspect you only need the rear mounts.
