You said it. I drove for 5 years OTR and regional. I had no family or responsibilities at the time. I decided to stop driving to be home to party and all that so called good stuff. I met my wife shortly after coming off the road. I was off the road for a few years and we started a family. Things slowly got tight my wife lost her job and i was very afraid of losing mine. We had 4 kids at this pont. I decided to go back to trucking but my wife new it was our only real choice to survive. we have the highest unemployment rate in the whole state of Indiana where we liuve so not a lot of choices. We both went into it with a good positive attitude, we set down and explained to our children and that is that. my kids took a while to adjust as well as my wife and I but now it is just normal. i talk to my wife and kids 2-3 times a day and i know what i am working for and they know also. Don't dwell on the negative things but focus on the positive things and enjoy every moment you spend with them. There will be times when it seems impossible and you just want to go home but stick it out and be determined and you will survive. Best of Luck to you.

well i know there are 5 or more counties that are within a few hundredths of a point from the top. I think we are actually ranked 3rd in the state but what are a few hundredths of a point not much.

I'm in a similar situation, in that my girlfriend has a son from a previous marriage. She is also accustomed to having me close by. Last year, my firm and our apartment were only 1.5 miles apart, with her salon right in the middle, and all on the same stretch of road. Talk about convenience! Once I'm back on the road, it will take some adjustment for all of us. But she knows what's in store, and knows it's the best way to keep our heads above water financially.
