I would put a thick stick up the arse of newer generation of owners and corporate bean counters perpetrating that bs on the peons. As compliant American wage slaving class is, they keep on pushing more control and humiliation on us. More to come with attitude like yours.

There is a direct proportion between quality of drivers and compensation/treatment of drivers. The owners pushing in cab surveilance don't give a flying dime about that "quality" of drivers. The quality of drivers is doomed to fall to its lowest since only rock bottom desperate, deficient or lacking self-respect folks will consider new and improved trucking jobs.just_sayin and exACT driver Thank this.

For one thing I would like to know how you arrived at this logic. I look at cameras like a lot of people look at padlocks: It keeps hinest people honest. Admittedly that includes me. One of the reasons why I tell them to keep my driver-facing camera on is because it gives me even more reason to keep my hands off the phone until I'm stopped.
Also I will never understand why people think that the owners/upper management of a large company are under any sort or obligation to personally care about their employees. They care that I do my job. I care that they pay me for it. That's where it starts and ends. In many ways I think it's better this way. Familiarity breeds contempt, ya know?truckerman75103, Dale thompson and Lonesome Thank this. -
I guess there are perfect slaves out there that will take just about anything the owners deem beneficial to their bottomline. Land of the free indeed. The bean counters discounting basic humanity and civil liberties deserve nothing but my contempt. But when I look at the guys driving those camera equipped rigs I feel complex mix of pity and contempt for them. What's next you'll put up with? An imbedded pain shocker perhaps? A chip under your skull?dryman, just_sayin, Sprout and 2 others Thank this.

I have a love hate relationship with them.
I hate the invasion but I love they will free me of blame more.
It’s what our society has evolved into.
Sue,sue,sue for anything.
Someone sued Redbull cause it didn’t give them wings.
A lady sued McDonald’s cause the coffee was hot she got 1.5 million.
Coffee hot? Really?
Thirdly they keep me honest, I’ll admit that straight up.
I too kept the camera on.
Oh he was on his phone officer I seen it.
Anyone have an accident where someone said they stopped or you were distracted?
These prove otherwise now.
Yeah the privacy sucks but it’s the world now.
Oh and we can cover them at night or when were done for the day.
They only care when we are drivingFlaSwampRat Thanks this. -

As a female driver it horrifies me, and I never feel safe from it. But I don’t think it’s all about gender. Anyone and everyone wants their privacy respected. There’s a reason we are truck drivers and not sitting in cubicles with eyes and ears on our every move. Cameras encroach on the senses of freedom and self reliance which make this occupation so unique.
dryman, just_sayin, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
Agreed, but that isn’t the whole issue. Dash cam footage is discoverable for purposes of litigation, and as I’ve said elsewhere on the subject why give enemy lawyers more to potentially discover and hurt yourself?
That’s shooting one’s self in the foot.dryman and Frank Speak Thank this. -
