Century class are still around and parts are plentiful but owners just keep fixing them and running, I have one I probably will get rid off by may (I'm with the army reserve trying to get a quick deployment)... if you are in the Georgia i95 corridor comcar is selling their international fleet with the maxxforce and m1 cooler for dirt cheap since they lost a major contract and have to shrink their fleet

Biggest thing is to save your money

The more you have to start off with the better

Although that brings up other uses

If you have $40k saved up
You could pay cash for a modest home in a rural area and with no house payment and no car payment you could drive a gravel truck locally for a few hundred a week and live like a king

I have a modest rental house on 1.3 acres in rural north GA that’s worth $45k tops

Property tax is $160 a year
Electric bill is less than $100 a month

So keep saving your money , it could open a lot of doors , trucking or otherwise

And in the right circumstances you can make good money driving someone else’s truck

There’s a heavy haul company in Atlanta that pays good to drive their less than three year old $225k W-900L

If you have a squeaky clean driving record
No DUIs or reckless driving ever and no moving violations of any kind in last two years

Have a good FICO score with no repos foreclosures judgements or Liens and no back child support
    No criminal record at all

They will hire With no driving experience, and train , if you can pass their background check
    Which most people can’t
I know someone that was taking a CDL class at a local state vo-tech school and When Their recruiter started listing all the things that disqualifies you from being able to get the security clearance , 21 of the 24 students walked out , and when he dropped the 210 page security clearance application on the table two more walked out ,
The last guy was not even 21 and had no driving experience other than the class , but could pass the background check .
    He got hired .

Nowdays , finding someone with that pays their bills on time and has never been arrested habitually obeys traffic laws , and can pass a drug screen is almost impossible

There’s a thread on here somewhere by a guy that chronicles in detail an owner operator buying a used truck and trailer and running it for a couple years And sold it and started in real estate investing I think
