But I do know that Ustatruck had previous experience and will go out with a trainer on Wednesday so that is odd.

I have not been on in a while, and I noticed a conversation on idle time.
This went in effect while I was with the company. In the winter it was no issue at all. You just have to learn how the idle system works, and learn how to use your underbunk heater.
All the Volvos they have at this time came with them, the last trucks that did not would have been traded by now.
If you set the icon/ TAS system on the engine/ battery mode, it will not count as idle time when the engine starts. It does not power up the computer and other components in this setting. All it does is start when battery power is low, or engine temps drop below 70 degrees.
On this setting you cannot use the trucks heating and cooling system, only the underbunk heater. They will roast you in your bunk till you learn the right setting though. Talk to the shop or someone if you need an explanation, or look in the owners manual for the truck.

For cooling you will not find an easy fix.
What I would do if I was setting more than an hour.
I would close all curtains. Windshield and sleeper. I would set the AC on low in the cab and high in the sleeper. This would allow the cab to insulate the air up front, and with my sleeper curtains closed, I would be comfortable in the back for a longer period of time. Usually the truck would only start once an hour for 10 min or so.
If you are getting 2500 miles a week or more, 15 min an hour when parked will not boost your idle up that much, since you are driving enough to run it down.

Using these methods I had a 0% to 2% idle all winter long, and summer I would stay around the 10-18% mark, depending on the part of the country I was in and the miles I was getting. I would not allow myself to suffer the heat or the cold though.
The winter thing was cheating I know, because the engine would start on a regular basis when it was very cold out, just to keep up the engine Temps. But since I did not have the cab comfort system on, it would not count as idle. A side benefit was I did not ever have an issue with fuel gelling or cold starts. I went 2 months straight one winter with 0% idle, then I started to make it hit 1% a week, just so they did not think I had disconnected the system. Which BTW is very easy to do. and to undo.

I would read the postings made by tragicmaigic. Also, talk to Jess and JJRanch.

They do not. They are only taking people they can put through their school.

the reason the cheap ### ######## at central only take new students who go through thier school is that they are paid in full by the government to do so, dont believe me do the research !! so those of you who fail the school or dont make it through your training tell them to piss off and dont pay them twice for something that a government prorgam has already paid them for. also look up jerry moyes's financial info it appears that he is not only in trouble with his hockey team the phoenix coyotes but his trucking companies are in financial difficulty as well so for those of you at central and swift good luck hope you dont get screwed like alot of us have.
