I agree and also am curious why there are no comments made on the GOOD owner op companies.I have read many threads on new drivers driving for companies, lease operators, etc, but no threads on owner ops who drive for GOOD companies.I,after many companies, fully understand that you try to "FIT"into a company that is good for you and good for the company. But for easier understanding I,m looking for miles, pay and understanding from a company that will actually work with you as a team. After all, drivers and dispatchers are a team striving for the same goal,to make money.JW

You just posted a very good question, and it is hard to answer. I am now retired, but back about 15 yrs. ago I had my truck leased to the old MS Carriers, which worked out very good for me. If you are a true owner operator with a good late model truck, you will find that just about all of the companies will put you on. And I am not referring to the lease deals out there which I do not like at all. As a true owner operator, you have to do a good job, delivering your loads on time and being available for the next dispatch. The companies and their dispatchers realize that if they dont keep you busy, that you have the option of moving your truck elsewhere. So they tend to try and take good care of you. I have seen OOs pulling trailers from most of the big outfits,so start shopping around for a deal that sounds good to you.Make sure they pay you for all miles including deadhead miles. When I leased on back in the 90s MS paid for my truck plates, all permits, furnished me with a fuel card, paid for scales, and also paid for toll roads and bridges. The time that I stasyed out was up to me. And when I punched the home time button on the Qual Com, my next trip was usually toward home. So just look around,I am sure there are still good leases out there.

There is information on the forum about O/O and where they are leased. There are threads about Landstar. There is a thread from an O/O leased to Create. If you look around there is info on here.
I will let you in on a secret. Do you want to know how you can tell an Owner Operator is happy and doing well with the company he is leased to? He is keeping the information to himself.

especially in times like these, with freight being so slow, I myself am hesitant to refer anyone to the company I lease to. I am really happy with them, but don't really need additional competition for the freight that is around. On the other hand, if I am actually asked direct questions I will answer them honestly.

US BULK is a good one. Watkins-Shepard if you own a Largecar and have a nice spread axle flat w/sidekit and tarps. Landstar and I hear about them quite a lot. YUP, they usually keep it to themselves so they get lots of freight. I'm retired. :biggrin_25518:

I have heard some good things about Oakley Trucking. They are showing compensation of up to $1.40 per mile this week on their web site.
