Hello I'm just asking for some opinions on Carolina logistics? Or other companies.

Right now I'm at western Express. I had 3 preventable accidents but I got a year of safe driving now. Been driving for a year and seven months now.

I just want to make better pay and it seems like Carolina logistics might be the only place that will take me for now. Unless there is others I've overlooked.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

  3. are you talking about Carolina logistics of candler North Carolina or the other one that they like to operate by..
they used to hire felons I don't know if they still do or not I know you're pretty much paid I believe on a 1099 you're not like a real employee with a W-2..
they trained students you see a lot of their drivers bob-tailed and parked over at the TA on the other side of their terminal I don't know if that's even the terminal..
there's some threads here if you look it up by General a few years back about that company personally I don't have any respect for them they're not my kind of a place after 30 years out here I have to really be at the bottom of the rung on the ladder. Even think about considering something like that..
but maybe it would work out good for you
I think they sometimes DBA is Carolina cargo to..
3 preventable so that definitely leaves a lot of doors shut as far as decent professional companies I can say that one year isn't nothing after three three is a lot..now if you were three years with nothing and had three preventable accidents that could be forgiving biggest prob for you..
you what they call an insurance risk nowadays..
had it been a preventable and two non-preventable that would be different but having three preventable that is not a good thing at all got to be honest..
but then again Trucking time to change since when I started in 1989 so after 30 years it could be a whole different ball game but the way things run now in the last 10 years of the industry so maybe you might be able to get on with some decent companies I'm not too sure..
you've only been driving less than 2 years you might want to tough it out at Western Express another year even go without having an accident then you have almost two and a half years under your belt 3 / preventables in that little frame of time and the fact that that the whole time you've ever driven a commercial motor vehicle that is not good at all whatsoever...

    well that will say though honestly is this if you call some place and tell them I've been driving only a year-and-a-half I've had 3 preventable accidents and they simply say all that's no problem we're not worried about that you'll be fine here there's an old saying;
    it's called buyer beware
just make sure you're not jumping from the fat to the fryer

National Carriers hires with 3 preventables.
Take what you can get for now; time keeps moving on and more opportunities will be available.

Is hitting a trash can at a convienence store considered a preventable accident?

    Chinatown Thanks this.
  6. did you damage the trash can or did you hit a dumpster??
if it's a dumpster that's the property of the garbage company if you hit a trash can that is striking personal property of the store.. it could go one or two ways depending on how you probably act..
if you were belligerent it's a just to trash can that's not the right thing to do..

It was a trash can that are in front of the pumps. No damage. I wasn't belligerent.

In fact, the manager of the store was watching me try to back out, (I had never been to the store and didn't know I couldn't get around the pumps) and she didn't say anything as I hit it. There's a lot more info and backstory.

Just want to know if it's considered an accident?

  8. was there an investigation did the cops come out??
did you call your company and tell them you hit it??
did the station owner call your company and say you hit it??
I wasn't more no harm no foul nobody knew only your conscience?
a lot of times if you report damage like that to your company they made ding with an incident not a preventable accident depending on where they draw the line..
some companies are so anal retentive you have an incident like that nobody sees it is best to keep your mouth shut. soon as report that you get a preventable.
I did that years ago 1995 last preventable accident what did I do well I was backing up in the parking lot one of those little poles at the back basically that protect the fire hydrant I kind of backed up against with the ICC bar and bent it over.
me still being new wet behind the ears only out in the industry for five years called in and said I bent back a pole in a customer's parking lot took pictures sent then next thing you know I got a preventable..
that was my own fault but I knew I probably would have got it preventable because I was with Nestle Transportation at the time.

    No cops or report.
I did tell my company and they had me fill out a description of incident.

    Wow...thanks for the advice!

Unfortunately if you have never delivered goods to convienence stores you don't know the situations I've been put in.
