They can be tough and stupid. As far as the bus thing goes I'll have to seek a higher power to fix that problem. But back to my original question,is it entrapment to use the vacant hidden driveway next door and only pop the trucks?

No, it is NOT entrapment. Entrapment is when a LEO encourages someone to break the law, then busts them for it. This deputy does not appear to be encouraging anything.

But he may be targeting truckers for whatever reason. Frankly, I have serious doubts about him ignoring someone for passing a school bus while it's warning lights are on. If he sees this and ignores it, then he is certainly not doing his job.

I've got over 20 years of LE in Kaliphornia, most of it with a sheriff's department. While we were not "encouraged" to work traffic, (we primarily dealt with criminal matters,) there was nothing saying we could not.

I don't know of any officer that would deliberately ignore the safety of a schoolbus loading/unloading.

Big Don is right. That's not entrapment, just cover and concealment. There are spots I still sit that hid my patrol vehicle so I can see driver's for who they really are. Soon as they spot my cruiser, driver sits up, puts the hands at 10 and 2 on the wheel and drives at the speed limit. When I'm in my pickup I see the normal routine most cars do. Whipping in and out, tailgating, etc.

That is one thing that irks the hell out me, when someone runs the buses flashing red lights. In every State, I imagine they have some law governing this. I was following my son's bus the other day and had a idiot run the lights. After a $500 citation, the punk didn't think it was so funny then. When I stopped him, 17 year old male, he was all giggles with his friends in the car. Most people are so hurried in their everyday routine, that they have no concept of what they are doing. Maybe they don't care. I see idiots reading the #### newspaper or a book while driving. when I stop them, it's every excuse under the sun. Just when I think I have seen it all I'll see something else stupid that someone does.

Just thought about this, is when the school bus loading/unloading with lights flashing, taken as a "school zone" where the fines increase, or double?

I'll file another complaint and even speak with the sheriff himself if that is what it takes to get this guy to do his job correctly.I also wonder if this officer has had any problems in a different area of the county. That is a good question about if it is a "school zone" when loading/unloading students.I will keep you posted as this develops. Thanks for the input Big Don and dieselbear.
