Baack Thanks this. -
This could be wrong but my husband said he thinks that since the economy is so bad there really isnt anything anymore at TMC such as line haul versus long haul, and their little promise of being home EVERY weekend you can forget about that for now. This was one of the promises that convinced my husband to go to work for them because he wanted to be home on weekends and he is on line haul. My husband has been out several weekends and has NEVER made a delivery on a saturday or sunday its useless for the driver to be out on the weekend.

Yeah if you don't pick up a long distance delivery on Thursday or Friday it is pointless to be out over the weekend since NOBODY receives on the weekend. From what I've seen the hometime depends entirely on where you live. I've asked to be kept out 4 times and I've been sent home 3 of them. Where you live is the biggest factor I think.

When my husband does get home on the weekend it is usually saturday mid-day and we live in kentucky which is supposed to be one of the better regions to live in if you drive for TMC

Tell hubby to opt for a longer 2 day run, or a shorter 3-400 mile run around weds. That will get him back on the early side of the day by friday, and he should get home earlier.
That's the method i used, always worked out. Ofcourse, there were a few times i had to wait a long time on Friday to get loaded, i just worked with my FM and made sure i avoided those places go to those places, because he knew that even if i was over my hours by the time i was loaded, i was going home.
But that's just me. -
as far as we know there isnt a choice on loads he just takes whatever load his fm sends him he has never refused a load or asked for specific things like that, rather not sit at a truck stop 2 days waiting for 1 load
-
This is assuming that his FM will actually CALL HIM instead of just sending it over the QC, mine used to call me every morning and we'd have a little chat, was a hell of a kid i loved working with him.
If he wants this to work, all he's gotta do is tell his FM to call him before he sends him a load, just explain to him politely that as a driver you know what's going on out there and where there is freight/where you will have to wait all day to get loaded, and would rather not go to those places if he could help it. I picked my own loads every time i was empty, and it always worked out in my favor, they can't make a real educated descision based on your needs from within their little cubicle. >.< -
My first FM would not do this, he simply would not try and deal with his team leader. I fired him two weeks ago. My current FM doesn't really call me with options but he does call me with the load and if I have a problem with it I'll ask him if there is anything else out there and I believe he actually does try and find something however he has only found me something else once. Usually I get the response that this load "needs to be picked up and I really don't have a choice.". I understand sometimes this is the case and as a team player I'll bite that bullet, but I'm really hoping that my options start opening up soon as I know there are plenty of drivers who have the option just like Eckz did.
