Mine is 86. I don't do this for health reasons though. It is just a way of life for me. My s/o loves bacon and I have to cook it for HIM.

Wow! Now we are talking about our teeth!! LOL!! I can eat meat or leave it...I do get my protein from soy, cottage cheese etc. I am 49 years old...bp=120/70...and all numbers are excellent. I too am overweight but working on that every day of my life. I have lost 55 pounds since last September and I feel great. Has it been hard...not really...I eat basically what i want..except candy, cookies etc. I do have cake..but it is the lower sugar cake mixes that I think are made by betty crocker. I use cool whip for frosting. I leave out the oil and add applesauce. If I want something that is not the best for you I figure out how to make it so I can eat it...I love french fries!! So..what I do is take either a regular potato or sweet potato and I cut them up in french fry form...put some olive oil on a cookie sheet..and bake them in the olive oil..a little seasoning salt..oh my...they are sooo good....I make my protein pies out of protein shake mix...pudding...milk...when it is the right consistancy I crush up a graham cracker in the bottom of a small container...add the pudding..top it with whip cream...sprinkle with choc chips..nuts...carmel drizzle etc....about 250 calories and oh so good..add a bottle of water to that..and you are full for quite sometime. I eat meat for lunch usually a sandwich with another pie...and usually some meat for supper along with vegetables...like baked sweet potato green beans...etc..then for a night time snack I do a weight watchers or skinny cow ice cream sandwich....So keep on eatin that meat!! If you dont like meat..eat some kind of another protein source of your choice....just eat protein..your muscles depend on it!!!! and your hair etc....

If you want to know what any species eats, you observe and record. It's that simple. Anything else is a mind game.

Perfect for eating corn on the cob (smile)

How does that picky a vegetarian become overweight with high blood pressure? Kinda kills the argument that a vegetarian diet is healthier doesn't it.
Let me guess, you are fond of french fries, mozzarella sticks, cheese fries, fried zucchini sticks, etc.
Oh great, like the average person doesn't have enought to deal with on a daily basis now I have to go make friends with the people at the local slaughterhouse.
Should I play with the calves in the pasture before they become that nights veal parmigiana dinner? Or is it enough just to introduce myself? What is an appropriate gift to bring. Mommy always told me never to go to a persons home empty handed the first time you meet them. Is a bottle of wine okay or should I go with something more practical like a solvent that removes blood from any fabric.
Why do vegetarians always have idiotic ways and reasons for me to eliminate meat from my diet or make my consumption of it more palatable to them?
I have been on a variety of diets over the years and tried a half dozen different protein powders, shakes, etc. They ALL taste like CRAP! I couldn't choke down 8 ounces of that chalky sludge if you told me the Hope Diamond was at the bottom.
I'm borderline anemic. When I get to feeling really sluggish I fry up some fresh calves liver with bacon and onions, make some mashed potatoes and cook some spinach. Voila! The nutrients in those foods perk me right up and taste good too.
Bonus: It's all natural! No powders made from chemicals and plants of which I never heard.
IMHO If God didn't want me to eat meat he wouldn't have made it taste so good.
Nobody said anything about aluminum cans.
Aluminum isn't even a vegetable.
Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
I have no intention of telling anyone else what to eat, so I could care less what you eat. I only described my eating habits. My SO eats meat and I cook it for him. I don't avoid meat for health reasons, but I do like salty fried foods. If I did eat meat, and with all the other stuff I like, I would be even more over-weight and have higher BP.
Also, I think you missed my point about slaughterhouses. I am only saying if more people knew about how their meat is processed in large slaughter houses, they might be appalled (maybe not). There are plenty of small farmers who produce cruelty-free meat without wining and dining the animals. Some even find the meat to taste better without all the added stuff (hormones, antibiotics, etc) the animals are given. I think one should educate him or herself on where food comes from (although not on a personal level, sorry you took it that way) regardless of it being meat or vegetables.
As far as the aluminum comment, I was applying to a previous post about digesting aluminum. -
To the person that tried the shakes....I guess you haven't tried the ones I drink...or the wonderful pies you can make out of them and still lose weight. I don't like shakes either or at least I didn't until I became educated and learned just what you can do with the protein powder to make them better. So here is the recipe. I use Herbalife shake mix and the personal protein powder. You will need 16 scoops of each...One box of either sugar free or regular instant pudding. About 3 cups of milk.. you may have to adjust cause the protein powder makes it thick. I also have found powdered peanut butter that I add to make it a chocolate peanut butter flavor (yum yum) I use the powdered peanut butter to cut out the fat from regular...and yes I still eat peanut butter for sandwiches.I also add a little splenda cause I like my a little sweeter. I bought the 100 calories little bowls I think from zip loc..I crush up 1/2 a graham cracker in the bottom for crust....add the pudding mix...and you can make any flavor you want..I just did key lime pies for our weight loss group and they went ga ga...top with cool whip....nuts...choc chips...carmel or chocolate drizzle...eat some freeze some...whatever you want...about 200 calories each..for the person that is vegitarian...you could lose on this plan also and bring all of those bad numbers of yours into play. I eat one for breakfast with a glass of ice tea...a snack at 10...another at lunch with a turkey sandwich or whatever...lean cuisine etc..and then I eat basically what ever I want for supper....and usually a weight watchers or skinny cow for night snack...do I eat out? you bet I do!!! Wendys...Arbys...Applebees....KFC!! love the new grilled chicken....I am 5'10" and I will be honest...started out a lard #$#!!!! Now my one friend calls me ##### on a stick!...I almost died last year on my motorcycle..a topper off a pickup camper came off and flew thru the air and hit my front tire on my cycle going 70 mph on the expressway...that was the day that changed my life...I decided...I am sick of being fat..I am not ready to leave this earth..and God was willing to leave me here for a while longer for a reason...I feel my reason might be to lose this weight and help others that thought they couldnt do it either... I dont care if you are vegetarian or you eat meat....The high blood pressure and sugar are going to slowly kill you...If you are ready to check out at a young age..then eat the way you are...if you want more help...I can help whomever needs it..If I can do this so can you....I love meat but some dont...and no I dont like all of it...and I get it from my local meat market and not a grocery store so I know where it comes from...and I quit eating burger from the fast foods after I heard its now being imported...I love salty fried foods...And I now make my own french fries..but in the oven..with a cookie sheet rubbed with olive oil...and i sprinkle them with season salt...Try them..you'll love them!! Or use Sweet potatos....I would have never in a million years thought I could do this..and I can take a recipe and make it my own only lower cal and low sugar..I love cake...I love cookies and ice cream...and Chickens!! Protein is very important....the cave man even ate meat!! and look how beefy he looked!!

Sounds like you have found a comfortable eating lifestyle and one that tastes good to you, just as I have. I truly believe to each his/her own. I don't condemn anyone for what they eat, nor would I ever try to change anyone's eating habits. I know I need to cut back on salt and fat to be healthier and I am working on it, but it doesn't have anything to do with me being a vegetarian. Not eating meat has not hurt me in anyway. I applaud you for caring where you food comes from. It is not just a vegetarian concern. There are other issues involved, too. Just look at all the food recalls, and not only with meat either. Also sounds like you have done a good job with getting healthier. Everything in moderation works for a lot of people.

There is no way on earth I'd have gained the muscle I have by bean, soy, or milk proteins alone, and soy is linked to estrogen - a no no for men. Needing 1 gram of protein per lb. bodyweight, it's a LOT of meat, so whey shakes are the norm as a supplement. As stated, they taste absolutely like a milkshake these days. That old chalky stuff is LONG gone, except for the bran or brown rice proteins; they are chalk and have to be sweetened a lot.
Slaughter needs to be addressed for mercy, I believe mostly in the bovine arena. The red meat scare hasn't seemed to bother any of the gym rats I know. And they all look VERY healthy, some are as old as me. (55)road dust Thanks this.
