Worst decision to make. FFE or CRE?

So I have applied to every trucking company under the sun. I was laid off from my local gas hauling gig I had for the last year and a half and thought I would just go back OTR. Prior to the gas gig I drove OTR for 10.5 years, but almost all companies I talked to said since I have no "recent" OTR they won't hire me. :biggrin_2556:

I do have 2 speeding tickets the last 3 years. And an accident listed for hitting a deer. Plus I need to be able to bring my dog as I have no one to watch him while I go drive. The only companies that said they would like to hire me are FFE and C.R. England. I see a lot of bad about both on here. I do not want anything to do with a lease/purchase plan and it sounds like CRE wants to push that. I see a lot of FFE trucks come through Columbus so I don't feel getting at least through the house should be a problem. Same with CRE.

I'm leaning toward FFE. I just want to work, stay under the radar, clear my record, hope the economy turns around and get a better job in a year or so. Anyone have any input about what they think?

You have but one option my man.FFE appears to be it.KUDOS to them for allowing your dog.I have 3 that dictate my life in a way as they are my kids since I am not aware of any of the human kind.At least none have been brought to my attention.I have a good looking neighbor feed my kids for me and she is starting to fall for my AKITA.He is a womanizer afterall. My dad left this one for me so he is not going anywhere and besides,it seems as if he trained him well regarding the women and the womanizing.Oh I got off topic.Sorry-
FFE.Sometimes a man has GOT to do what a man has GOT to do.W/your experience, you'll learn their system quick enough and may even learn to enjoy working there. You can not always go by that which others type-FFE may be just what you need to get your #### straightened out for a year or so.Plus they are allowing your dog/kid so that right there accounts for plenty.
    best of luck.

Biscuit I would proceed with caution in making this decision. FFE may allow a dog but they will take a penny per mile as the fee for having the dog on the truck, and they only allow one animal per truck. Hopefully they explained that to you. One of my girls worked for FFE and she was told a lot of things by the recruiter that were absolutely not true. Ask lots of questions and try to get as much information as possible emailed to you, especially the rate of pay per mile they are offering. They changed this on her once she had completed orientation and was ready to hire on.

yah CRE; is pushing lease real hard as soon as you walk in the door but you dont have to take it ! you do have a choice. you ca go company team causethey did away with company solo or you go with trailer recovery which is what im going with. or 2nd seat with an o/o is another way to go and as far as the dog you can brng him its a insurance thing $12.00 a month for pets and they will deduct it out of your settelment. CRE; isnt all bad they will work with you.

Biscuit75, I would proceed with caution in going to FFE. One of my girls worked for FFE and found it to be very difficult to get paid, and to get paid correctly. Every week her check was short and every week the explanation from payroll was that they had not received all of her scanned documents, even though she had the scan number and confirmed receipt. On more than one occasion they claimed they had not received her documents, but they paid her the reimbursements for the trips they said they did not receive...they just didn't pay her the mileage. She left the company with them still owing her money.

Go with FFE I have worked for them both as a company driver and owner operator. I made some money with them. There is no perfect company out there. FFE has plenty of freight and can keep you moving. Just hang in there, I am considering the move back to them myself after losing my good US Mail run due to cutbacks within the Postal system.

....or the OP could just be very deliberate in his decision-making!
