Soooo...the dealer agreed to replace drums/brakes when you bought the White Beast...and didn't? If so, any recourse?

 

Thats what i was thinking when I read that. My old boss bought a garbage truck used. they told him that they rebuilt ALL hydro cylinders and put all new tires and brakes and they would give him a 1 month warranty bumper to bumper all on paper. A week after he got the truck I had to drive over 140 miles back down to the dealer 3 times to have them rebuild 2 of the cylinders AGAIN because they were leaking pretty bad. Well all was good for about a week until we had another cylinder start to leak and 1 of the inside duals were bald we called the dealer and they told us it wasnt there problem including the cylinder so we ended up sueing them for $1500 and won. so if the dealer gives u any gripe make sure everything is on paper. Just in case. Times like this u gotta save every penny

 

Is it possible they just wore quicker than normal after cooking them during episode 194 "Pharm vs. the mountain" ?

 

I can't imagine new brakes going bad that soon. I've put over 200,000 on mine and they still look very good.

 

Someone else mentioned that if you cook them...they become brittle....and die a quick death. I would suspect they should last much longer as well...but was just throwing a thought out there for the experts to weigh in on..

 

I forgot about "Pharm vs the mountain"...LOL.

Regarding engine brakes....when you get an overhead run, done don't they service the jakes as well? Wondering just in case Pharm's needs servicing and not just a case of trying to use them at too low an RPM.

 

I believe this comes down to experience.... All of these "episodes" by the OP most likely would not have happened if he would have gained SOME experience first. These are all dumb rookie Swift-esq foibles.... I know of another trucker who jumped right in with no experience, but his big advantage was that he was financially prepared.

 

When I got my overhead done they found broken springs in the jake and fixed them. I just about went through the windshield the next time I used them!

 

So how long do the Nazis keep their checkpoints open? What happens if you get caught with bad breaks?

The dealer did the same thing to me, Pharm. Exact same thing. What is sad is I hounded them until I threw my arms up. They never said they would not fix them, but they didn't need to, either. F 'em.
