Hey everybody I am wanting to start the school In Utah soon. I have been talking to a recruiter and am excited about it.
I just wanted to ask some of ya'll some questions.
The recruiter said its not a problem but I have 2 misdameanors on my crimal record. Both bad check violation 1 is 10 years old and 1 is 2 or 3 years old. Do ya'll think this will hurt me?
Also I am a woman. Are there many women trainers on this bored and if so can someof you chime in and tell me a few pointers on what to bring to school with me. No offence to the men but ladies need different things sometimes.
I just dont wanna get up there and them tell me to go home cause we found such and such on your record. I was honest about em so hopefully I am ok .....I juts hate waiting on this.. can anyone give some advice.. Thanks

Does anybody know the answer to this. If I go back to Central and don't pass part of the physical and they say "come back in 60 days", is that because it's a D.O.T. mandate, or is that a company policy? I was told by somebody else in the forum that I could have just went to another company and tried, then I could have been already 3/4 of the way done instead of just waiting to get started again.

Rhino and Chunter81 is headed from Idaho to Fontana to drop a load. They then will be picking another load to take back to Indiana. Bout 4200 so far this week not bad. Should end up with 6000-7000. Which is a turn around from sitting at the shop almost a week! He thinks he's not going to take the Kraft runs. But not for sure yet. He would really like the Dole dedicated but they are full right now. His FM says he can get him on as soon as there is an opening.

Chunter81 you take care of Rhino.
Feed him good on his birthday!
    It's his big 40!
I Love you Rhino! Happy birthday Honey!:occasion7::occasion7::occasion7:

Hi Kristy, Welcome to the Central part of the Forum!!

I would ask to talk to the Security people at Central and find out for sure that the Misdemeanors won't be a problem, I would hate to see them send you home!

You should try travel as lightly as possible as there really isn't a lot of room in a truck, but in saying that I would pack enough clothes for 7 days as some loads are tight and you won't have time to do Laundry.

There are a few Women trainers, You might have a small wait on a trainer as most of the women team with there Significant other.

    Good luck with it all!

Utahhomesick I think it is a Central thing as ccolvin went to CRST after they said he didn't do the lifting properly, they said he bent his back to much. My personal opinion is they are getting really picky about who they accept as they have so many people applying every week!

    Rhino Happy Birthday!:occasion6:

Ok, I got off the phone with the recruiter. He told me what to bring and where to show up on Monday. My wife got her schedule changed so she can drop our daughter off at the bustop and even has a friend that is going to watch her afterschool for about 30mins. until my wife gets there and for no $$. That will help. I dug out my old Atlas to make sure I have it. Probably should get a new one but i'll see. I have heard that the directions they give you to get to a certain place aren't very good. How many of you have a GPS or something like that in your truck? Do they work and should I look for one?

I would invest in a truckers atlas as they have restricted routes and low clearance bridges marked!!

We have a GPS but only use it when directions are totally wrong and we can't get anyone on the phone at a shipper or receiver.

A GPS is a handy tool but unless you buy the new truckers one, the older type GPS will sometimes route you where trucks aren't allowed.:biggrin_25512:

OMG, who's wife do i have to kidnap so these guys realize that some of these newbies, who are obeying every order given them and following every rule, have wives and families at home? My husband's training was extended for 3 days, (which ran into the weekend so that added 2 more days), because his trainers truck was in the shop...which broke down during the holiday so they sat on their hands for the 3 days waiting for the shop to open. Central gave him an excuse that he was not driving so they needed to unseat him, and/or throw him with another truck....yada, yada, yada, can't remember specifics, well he had made his hours required by then and would still have the required days of driving that he wouldn't need to have the extension... so he gets back to WVC on friday, unable to do his upgrade till mon & tues because of the weekend. So, he passed and is officially a Central employee...yaayyeee...BUT, he has been sitting and waiting for a truck since. Now the "GREAT" part, (i'm lying about the GREAT), he was just told that he has to fly out to Conley, GA to get his truck on Friday a.m. to receive his truck in the p.m. ....oh and it gets better!! They are TRYING to get him a load that will get him closer to home (Idaho) but it might take 2 loads to do that. Hmmmm, if i'm not mistaken, it would take him about 3 days to get home, and that's if he didn't have to make any drops or pick-ups. So my vent is....where in the brochure that i trusted was fair did it say 2 months of separation?? I am just wondering why they can't see the whole picture as a company and try to be sympathetic to the party that they don't employ, (the families back home), wouldn't they want to take care of their new employees as best as possible so the newbies become faithful, loyal servants to them?...they are starting them off with a bad taste in their mouth as well as people at home who are rethinking the whole deal before they even get on the road!!. Okay...there i vented...i feel somewhat better.

Trying, trying, trying to remain positive here.

I have one of the cheap Garmin GPS's and its really gotten me out of trouble before. Course it will get you in just as much trouble if you don't stay on top of it. As Jess said, most GPS's are made for cars and not trucks. Would like to get a truck one for myself but they still need to come down in price before I'm willing to fork that kind of money out.

2months is nothing. 1bad was gone for 3 total!!!!!!!! And they couldn't give a rats backside about anyone they just want their freight picked up and delivered on time! 1bad's miles have been so low that now we are getting kicked out of our house. I have 15 days to pack up 10 yrs worth of stuff oh yeah all by myself. Because we can't afford for 1bad to come home. Looks like his miles are picking up now but to little to late! Me and the girls are going to move back in with my parents for awhile. Just looking around and there is so much to pack I don't know where to start nor do I really want to. Ok that was my vent session for the day. And I be dang if I'm gonna start crying again!!!!!!!!!!!

Awww Tina I am sorry your hubby got of to such a bad start!

It was just a lot of bad luck, the trainers truck breaking down was just bad luck, we have a new Pete and it has spent its time in the shop as JJ was training a student believe me he hated it as much as the student did while the truck is sitting it isn't making money!

Now the good points being sent to Conley to pick up a truck he will have some good miles for his hometime check and he gets a free flight to Atlanta.

Things will get better believe after he gets his truck and you get out on the road with him:yes2557:

JJ when he first decided to get back into driving went to Stevens Transport and he would have been gone for three months, Thank god he was sent home to have some tests done and then he applied at Central!
