i was wondering if there was someone out there that had central install an inverter on their truck and wondering if the price of 120.00 was an accurate price that i was qouted from the shop or should i go elsewere...i am a co driver getting my volvo 6/5/09

Sounds a reasonable price!! We had Peterbilt put ours in and it was over $200.00!
Good Luck Bob and let us know what your trucks like
-
I guess it doesn't really matter!

Can anyone tell me what the usual time frame is from filling out the application to getting a call from a recruiter? Thanks
-
Depends on the recruiter you get. Took 1bad almost a month to hear something.
rakusa Thanks this. -
Go on the Central website and they have some 1-800 numbers of some recruiters on there. They do a really thorough back ground check and MVR check so if you have something in your past, tell them upfront. It's only 5 hrs. from Vegas to SLC but that would not be a ride home I wanted.
rakusa Thanks this. -
Thanks bullet888, called and made contact with a wonderfully nice lady and she couldn't find my online app so faxed it.

I am glad to see that Cubby is on his way to getting a truck, and getting some miles.
I am also glad to see that his attitude is still possitive.
It is easy to get down on things when on the road. I know that wives have a hard time at home, but to you wives, think about what your hubby is dealing with on the road.
We are alone, with nothing to think about all day but the road, the load, and whatever is on the radio.
At these times, and when we are on our breaks, at shippers, ect..... We are thinking about everything. Our lives, or familys. It is very easy to get yourself worked up on the road 3000 miles from your real life.
Every now and then I just had to take a breather. I would get so worried about everything else that I would feel that I was going to break under the strain.
This is when we need the support on the end of the phone line, and at the end of the haul when we get a few days off.
We need those reminders of why we are out there, and the good it is doing for our familys.
It is better now with running flat. I have to say that the vast majority of the shippers/ recievers that I go to are on the ball. I usually don't have an appt. I just get there and they unload/ load the truck. Some are busy, and you have to wait a while, but none of the rude people that I met at grocrey warehouses. That thought you were trash (or at least acted like drivers were).
I see much more respect.
Back to the origional idea. OTR drivers with family at home really need to be reminded on a regular basis that home is stable and that everyone there is ok.
I am really worried by the post I saw that one of the drivers is loosing his home. My heart is breaking for all of you, and I hope it all goes well in the long run. I know it is hard on you at home, and I know that he is thinking about it and worrying all day every day. It just kind of eats at you.
Be strong, you will be ok.
The love and support of our familys keep us going and keep us chasing that white line till we are home again.
On the inverter question....
I installed mine myself when I was at Central lol, I asked the shop and they said they were busy. So I asked one of the night guys about the fuse system, he gave me one, and I hooked everything up nice and professional. I know that it was seen by mechanics several times, and none said anything about it.
Oh, and I hope that truck was really ready today, they are notorious about not having them done when they say they will be. And check it over well. You dont want to be blamed for old damage. Anything you can find wrong with the truck you need to mark on the inspection.
I know I was going to say other things, but I cannot remember what lol, and this wall of words is getting long.andrew5184 Thanks this. -
Good to hear from you Chrome! So has the Flat work picked up any???
It is hard for the wives and most of us try stay positive on the phone with the hubby even if we are having a crappy day!
Some do a better acting jobs then others LOL.
JJ is almost in Texas, he is dropping his load in the Irving yard and having a 34hr reset and then he has a run back to Colorado and home on the 12Th
Hopefully he can then grab a Student in WVC.

See if he can go until the 19th and i'll go out with him. Just a thought. I start class on Monday and will keep you all updated.
