On another note. Just found out I will not be getting that whopping $50 layover pay for my restart. Seems that it is part of the punishment. Not sure how I feel about that. True I did screw up but does not say anywhere in their much ballyhooed policy book about cheating You out of money like that.
Oh well, will just look at that as another learning experience and keep moving foward.

I would like to thank every all of you for your post. I was thing of a l/p with Trans Am. But I could not make the math work (.84c) You would need at lest 2000+ml. just to pay operating cost .Mybe I should stay at Swift a little longer?
-
Well if you want to make less than a company driver, TA will welcome you with open arms. Would stay where your at till you get your year in. This company may drive me up a wall but will stay here for my year then move on.
My trainer plans to complete this lease then is going back to driving company. Maybe when the economy picks up leasing will be a ok deal. -
Hello all like many of you in here I am a recent graduate that is looking for a company to work for, so far as I know the only company that is hiring student drivers here in MI where I live is Trans Am I have read a lot of bad stuff about the company but i am looking for anyone that has a success story or anything positive to say about the company I will not do a lease purchase, so i don't need any comments advising me against that. Paying someone else's payment for a truck just doesn't sound appealing to me. I am about out of options, if I don't find a decent paying job soon I will be forced to file bankruptcy, i was laid off from my job as a machinist and now am looking to get into the trucking business. I want to eventually get into heavy hauling but need some where to get my feet wet. Please no post telling me to avoid the company I just want the truth on what to expect from the company.
Thanks in advancechew6229 Thanks this. -
i worked for TransAm for a couple months....did the orientation and all that jazz....the key is that they say its 50 dollars a day during your orientation...its not its 50 for the three days your in class then 50 for each day your with a trainer...i only had to train for a week they normally go for three but since i wasnt a student driver and had the experience yea anyways....they talked to me about leasing and all that....and my trainer did as well...i felt conffident about it...trainer said if i had any problems or ?'s to call him....never answered my calls....you would sit on hold for ever if you called dispatch and then theyd tell you to call a different dept...and i'd have to sit on hold again...the checks that i got...my first week: I ran 2400 miles....took home 195.10 after fuel was paid and all that truck payment and rental stuff they MADE you have on your truck and MADE YOU pay for which i think is stupid....if they required it on the truck you shouldnt have to pay for it....anyways...week 2: ran 1500 miles cuz they "couldnt find me a load" ok w/e....i didnt get a check that week infact i was in the hole -250 dollars....week 3: ran 3500 miles great week took home 800 bucks...turned in my two weeks to get outta the lease....wife was having problems plus being away from my new bride three weeks at a time and loosing money if i went home just wasnt goin to work for me...final two week checks 500 and FOUR WEEKS after i turned in my truck i got my final check....ONLY because i threatened to get my lawyer involved.....TransAm uses the sex appeal to get you to sign lease agreements.....they pound it in you head all day that you should do a lease cuz you will make more money than a company driver....this is b/s....i love driving truck its my life long dream to do it....and i have found a company an hour from home that i can get home every weekend and not lose that money....overall i would never work for transam trucking they are liars and only care of themselves and there pockets....
-
rifleman- i would have to disagree with you about transam....i leased with them not for long cuz i pulled my head outta my #####.....they dont care about you as a driver...fact: they care about getting as much lease op drivers as they can so it saves them money on insurance and puts more money in there pocket...i signed a 4 year lease with them....left had a brand new 2010 t660 black sharp truck loved the look....they started me off in the hole as they do with all other lease op drivers by not having but enough fuel to make it to the truck stop off 169 on the other side of 35...my first run 2500 miles took home 190 bucks...fueled at the fuel solution stops followed the routes they gave me and all that good stuff they tell you that you should do to keep money in your pocket....did everything i could to keep fuel costs down ran 65 or less....next week they only gave me 1300 miles just enough to pay for the truck and leave me in the hole 300 dollars and yes this is with the fuel surcharge added or it wouldve been 1000 in the hole....talked to my DM and told him he needs to get me more miles....he did he got me 2000 miles the next week...i didnt just call him that once i called at least three times a week to see if he got me more mile...even requested a new DM...wouldnt let me...so everything they tell you about just talking to your DM and they will give you the miles is BS.....never had a late load always ran legal and was profesional at all times...didnt make transam look bad....i put in my two weeks a month later...and my last week they FINALLY gave me a 3500 mile week....i got that check and im not kidding a MONTH later for a wopping 500 bucks...the only reason i got the check is because i threatened to get my lawyers involved....they wouldnt talk to me i just got voicemail after voicemail never did i once until i brought up the lawyer thing did they call me back to explain a dang thing y it was taking so long...and it really wasnt an answer just an excuse for wasting my time and holding my final check...i didnt do anything wrong it was them screwing me around and taking care of themselves....its all the crap that they require that they put on there trucks such as the apu's that we have to pay for...which is bs....having to pay for the satilite...bs....ya know its all the little crap that adds up....

Here's something all of you truckers should know. I worked for TA for a few months teaming with my hubby. I got ill and they canned me with a medical termination. They cut my insurance off before I even had a diagnosis, and was still in the hospital. Seems I have cancer. Anyway, Obama put in a new deal for people on Cobra insurance which will help them if they were involuntarily let go. Which I was. Well, the insurance sent me papers to fill out for this help. Transam denied me the help. Some kind of crap about their policy... So thanks alot Transam. You really are the crappiest company I know of in the trucking industry. I will probably write to the trucking news and tell them about it. As I think all people who are even thinking about driving for Transam should know. I also have had 5 cards from them to come back to work. I did finally call them, and they said they only lease now... My school instructor said they use to be a decent company when Johnny was running it. But since he stepped down, they have gone to crap. He said his stock in the company has gone waaay down. So that should tell you all something about Transam. They suck, plain and simple.....

TransAm is big on their lease program, everyone promotes it, so I went for it. First week made 400 profit, but went downhill fast after that. three weeks in a row I ended up owing them money. Gave notice, turned in my truck, chalked it up as a learning experience. NOW, they want me to pay them 1400 for terminating the lease early. What part of WALK AWAY LEASE don't they understand? Wasnt it enough that I drove for three consecutive weeks with no pay? Could be a great company to drive for, but they gotta get their collective heads out of their #####! Found a local job, good money, love the miles and I'm home every night!

folks remember that most trucking companies have people monitoring this website so if you see a post praising how great a company is it is probally one of the insiders at said company. There are good and bad at every company and if you screw up admit it don't bash any company because you over slept, played the cherry master machine too long ect. be a professional and take RESPONSIBILITY for your actions. it's not a companies fault in most cases if your late on a load i know of no company that will tolerate that BS as for trans am i have never worked for trans am see there truck all over the place so it seems they have the freight never spoke to a trans am driver don't know if the trucks i see are only doing 300 miles or 3000 a week BUT all the negative posts i see on here i am glad i didn't buy into the crap that the driver that came to my truck driving school layed on about the L/P at trans am PEOPLE if you want your own truck pay your dues and buy your own and lease on with some one then you are your own boss and you can pick and choose your company and freight and as for all the flag wavers posting all the good stuff about a company look at all the negative post and see how many are from the same person and as was once said thousands of people cant be wrong
AND rescue check out ATS you can start van or flat bed and work into heavy haul
folk have a good day
