First time I jumped in a Pete I was like: "WTF is up with this clutch pedal?"

I drove Petes for Arnett Trucking, I thought they were noisy and not comfortable at all, did not like them. Windy noise around the doors

a mack is nothing more than a vulva in different clothing for the past 10 years or so.
vulva is doing their damnedest to ruining the mack name, and they are doing a very good job accomplishing that

i refuse to drive the Pete we have because of the clutch.
i had to have my knee replace already due to using a clutch for 45 years.
ain't no way i am having it replaced again because of that truck

I did not know Volvo merged with MACk, I think there drive train still is built in Hagertown, except the Cummins engine they use.

nope, vulva bought out Mack/Renault in 2001. the switch from the Renault/mack engine to the vulva engine in 2007 or so started the downfall of mack trucks.
if you own an old mack truck, parts are getting very hard to find. and V8 parts are made of unobtanium any more. vulva got rid of all the parts, patents, and molds to make new parts.
they also stopped using a lot of mack designs and replaced them with vulva parts and designs. pretty much the only Mack parts on new trucks is the name.

Must be the day for education, I just by passed a job with TEC / Mack Trucks here in CA, too bad would have been a real learning experience, talked to some customers before the GM, and decided to take the customers advice and leave while I could...

a lot of "mack " owners are not happy with the company and the junk that is passed off these days.
thus the reason for most people switching to Kenworths and Petes.
even a lot of the towns here in the northeast are switching because of all the issues macks are having.

Mack was having issues out here in the west for along time. Don't know how Volvo will handle the company, but nobody seems to like change.
The most comfortable tractor I have ever driven was a Volvo, ran good, quiet inside , pulled the hills loaded to 80k, large comfortable bunk, great table seating area. Looked alot like a Kirby Vacuum cleaner, but besides that great truck, which is more than I could even begin to say about the Mack's Ive driven that were noisy, uncomfortable dogs to drive, company I worked for at the time bought them cause they were cheap, and that they were, sadly, and if they break and theres no Mack dealer in town you wait.
