ill keep a log...im starting tomorrow, 6am......going to work then school right after it

im happy.....ive known i wanted to be a truck driver for a long time and im finally really on the road to getting my CDL

the thing i am most worried about is the pre trip really

all i want is to come out of this with my class a and a better understanding of how to shift gears.....i know this wont make me perfect, but i already have alot of the maneuvering and backing down......

also the parallel parking....ive worked in the yard for almost 2 years and never had to parallel park....most people dont

oh wel, we'll see......wish me luck

i have a feeling the first day will be boring as hell.....

    Pre-trip is easy.

Just take the sheet they give you and after class, if there is a truck available, go over each section six or seven times to memorize it.

It makes it even simpler if you have another person there to go through it with you and tell you where you made a mistake.

Do that as often as you can and even the DOT examiner will tell you that you know it better than he does.:biggrin_25525:

If you live in Virginia, Look at CDS Tractor Trailer Training in Woodbridge, VA. I went there and they are great. Alot better than some of them out there.

today was cool....really been focusing on the pretrip....i guess we break it down into 3 sections, we did the first one today.....its not as bad as it sounds honestly

my only complaint is that the driver agent told me classes were 6-230 everyday, so i showed up at 6 my first day and nobody was there til 7

now i find out they want us to stay til 5 some days.....i work from 10pm to 6am so its not workin out...i called in sick to work tonight cuz i was so tired.

first week is done...i honestly had alot of fun

me and digz77 work together on the pretrip almost everyday

we both have the whole engine compartment driver and passenger side including suspension brakes wheels tires down pretty #### good...the driver door/fuel area down pretty good and the 4 point brake check pretty much perfect

we start driving monday....i really enjoy it....today they gave demonstrations on the backing manuevers which dont look to bad...parallel parking might be a problem but ill learn it
