I need yalls help in choosing a trucking company.
I need a regional company, and I live in Richmond, VA. I have already investigated two local companies, DDI and Marten. DDI wont return my calls for whatever reason, and Marten doesnt want me for another 6 months due to me neglecting to write down my old married name.
I have an offer from Celadon and Crete, but they are both OTR companies.
Any suggestions? And how are Celadon and Crete?
Yalls opinion and help needed

Heartland has a regional terminal just south of Richmond in Chester, VA. Might check with them.
Just a thought.Fyrstar Thanks this. -
Have you tried an outfit called Abilene Express?

I know this wont be much help, but you are a very young looking 37.
Also, look into the foodservice carriers like Monarch and US Foods. You might luck up on a dedicated overnight run. Got a doubles endorsement? -
Alright! Hitting on her in the forum, classy!

I worked for Crete for 10 yrs, found them to be a top notch company.Delv your loads safely and on time.Act as an adult and expect to be treated as such and you won't have any problems.
Hope that helps and best of luck. -
I worked for Shaffer, which is the refer side of CCC, They sucked.Cheap ##### trucks and could never in 6 months get me home on time.

In an answer to your question about Crete, it is a good OTR company, it does have a midwest fleet OH, Pa more of a NE fleet in my opinion although not a whole lot of running up North of New York, it also has a SE regional fleet Ga, FL, Al etc. I am not sure if either region would work for you and it sounds like our National fleet isn't quite a match.
Continue to check with restuarant and food supply warehouses, LTL, and expeditor services in your area. Unfortunately the is no driver shortage, perceived or otherwise, and many of the companies have a hiring freeze and sometimes even lay offs fight now. Keep checking anyway, if somebody quits you may ask at the right time and get in. -
Might want to look at each of these and pick the one that best suits your situation;
Epes
Estes
Averitt
R&L
NEMF
Ward Trucking
ABF
Old Dominion
I cannot say if any of the above have open driving positions or not but you can always call to find out.
Of course you could always do a web search for trucking companies in the Hampton Va area and call each one until you find someone that will take you on.Last edited: Jun 9, 2009

Should take a few minutes to find out about the one you are hitting on!
Right Frystar? Good luck in the search, hopefully things will start picking up, but where you live...hard to say...a little better west but not a whole bunch...good luck again!
