It's always been in my mind that you probably will never get the chance to use a gun even if you had one. Premediated theft or threat will wait until you're unprepared and not expecting an attack. It doesn't take much of an attacker to know that it's best to ambush your target.
It would also come to mind that the gun you have to protect you could possibly be used against you.
The last thought is that is very different anticipating using a weapon and then being confronted by anxiety, and doubt.
It's food for thought . . .
I do agree though that it would be easier for me to protect a loved one I felt was in danger. Odd isn't it? My child, my lover? What happens to them, happens to you . . . -
On your mind or not, crime stats show that armed citizens lower crime rates. Sure, there's still the occasional mugging, but not knowing if the person has a gun or not acts as a good deterrent. I'm pretty sure the figure in Michigan is a concealed pistol license for about 1 in every 65 citizens. Take a look around some websites dedicated to this kind of thing. One interesting video I was watching last night showed an armed robber taking off when one of the customers at the convenience store he was robbing pulled out his gun.

Excellent Post. Well stated.

Your absolutely right on The guberment has slowly changed roles and become our overbearing mother, seeing fit to dictate our lives. When the original purpose was to safeguard our constitutional right. The Second Amendment has been nit picked almost to the point of irrelevancy.
Rights are like muscles if you don't use them they won't be there when you need them. -
could I carry a pistol while driving a commercial cargo van or possibly a rifle carbine ? what about not having it concealed ?

From what I'm seeing, in Georgia you're allowed to carry in your home, vehicle, and place of business without a license, but I would double-check your firearms laws just to be sure.
Baack Thanks this. -
There are tasers for sale at the truck stops now. I assume they're legal to carry since they're "perfectly safe." (lol lawsuits)
