Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I have 6 months otr but it is within the last year and a HALF. So I just called my previous company and they said that since I left them 1.5 years ago I haven't had any trucking experience they wouldn't hire me. Is anyone hiring someone in my position on the I-5 corridor.
-
This is a little like my problem.... The companies I have called all seem to want 6 months OTR in last year and/ or 1 year in last 3 years OTR and mine is all local in last 3 years. all my OTR just hit 3 years old so they count it....company policy they say...I have even asked about a refresher coarse just to try and get in.... I know I have not forgotton how to drive but if thats what I have to do then so be it.... This has gone on way to long! I am not one to give up but....

Thank you I am glad that you took the time to post this!
LadyDallasDriver Thanks this. -
`Hearland Express` is hiring. If you have been off the road longer than 3 years could be a problem there currently not doing there Refresher thing they say they do on the website. But hey there hiring! as of 6-16-09
"WEL" is hiring and if you have not driven in awhile you can take a refresher coarse at a school and they would consider you. Must be at least 40 hrs and is about $1,000 bucks out of pocket or if you live in Texas you can apply for the WIA takes about 4 weeks to get but would pay in full to my understanding. So far this has been the best I have found for getting back in OTR but you be the judge.... Please do not call them and ask if they pay for it THEY DO NOT!!! Its up to you to get it! as of 6-16-09
`Hills Bros` is hiring ...Exp. restrictions ...nice folks as of 6-14-09
`Schneider Natl` ...I think the Dallas school is open..you will need to double check me on that.... as of 6-10-09 -

Try your local cement companies go to a major hwy and watch the trucks go by and get there info of the door I have done a lot of that! I go to the Pilot here in FtWorth and wathc them. You may see about cartage companies sometimes they have fleet owners that need drivers. Good luck!...sorry abour ramblin on....
