After being gone for 2 years I'm very glad to be back at Maverick....VERY glad.

I never should have left...and won't leave again (unless they fire me)

I'd say that pretty well sums up how I feel about Maverick.

Hey Ridgerunner, do me a favor. Could you keep some posts coming as to how you are doing back over there now that you have gone back. I had to quit a few years ago when the Army called me back to active duty to serve as a WMD Tech. I am waiting for them to release me (hopefully by August) and I'm with you. I absolutely loved driving for Maverick. I started back in 03 pulling side for a few years then switched over to US division. Being Military for so long as well I love the structure of Maverick and I'm curious as to how things are now and specifically if their core customers are keeping them afloat during the tough times.

    Thanks

    Will do.

They have "tightened up" some (lower layover pay, strict mpg requirements) but they seem to be doing OK.

They've bought 250 new trucks this year so far.

I never knew it was so easy to get good MPG...I'm getting 7.3 MPG without even trying, but they require you to get at least 6.85.

I didn't think I was gonna like the automatic tranny either...but its growing on me fast.

    Fuel bonus:

    6.5 - 7 MPG = .01 cents per mile per quarter
    7 - 7.5 MPG = .02 cents per mile per quarter
    7.5 - 8 MPG = .03 cents per mile per quarter
8+ MPG = .04 cents per mile per quarter

In other words...they pay you to drive slow (and you still have the ability to pass when you need it). Instead of restricting the speed of the trucks to 65 mph, they fire you if you don't get good MPG. My truck will run 72 mph (according to my GPS), which gives me plenty of "go pedal" to pass or get out of the way.

Agreed! I was top MPG for 2004 with Maverick in Short Haul division. I would just stroll around doing my thing but if I needed to get up and go it was there. I just had to stay mindful of how much I laid in to it.

Is the automatic Tranny's all that Maverick has?

Soon will be...they are trading off the last of the 2005 model trucks right now.

I never thought I'd say it...but I like the automatics.

TreeStand...didn't I see that handle on a wall plaque somewhere??? Driver of the year maybe...

    About the job (re: teampitts3)...
The miles are decent so far, I didn't get home this weekend but thats no big deal to me (as long as there are miles involved) and they know it, what more could a driver ask for??? (Don't answer that...I was only joking, LOL)

    Its great to be back.

I was hollering at him on the radio one day. He told me his handle and I told him mine. He said I know you from the truckers report I am hoosier hunter... I asked him then why do you go by treestand? My user is notarps4me my handle is notarps... less confusing that way...:biggrin_25523: I have loaded beside him a time or two after that.
