1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I've been a C.D.L. truck driver for the past fourteen years, but being I haven't been over the road in the past three years no one will hire me except C.R. England.

I've read all the Horror stories about the company on here but being no one else will hire me at this point I don't have much of a choice if I want to be a long haul truck driver.

    Any advise???

That's a tough one. Are you thinking long haul or could you do local with a different company? I know the CR England here in Salt Lake has an ungodly turnover rate and prolly for a reason.

Yeah mainly everything "BAD" I've heard about them revolves around the lease plan and the drivers not making any money for having to make those steep truck payments every week. I have to make a living, I'm already in debt I don't need a truck lease to get me deeper in debt.

I drove for CR England for over a year (6/04-8/05). I went through their training in East Chicago, IN, drove OTR for 6 months, and then drove in a dedicated fleet for the remainder of my time with them. My view is this: One has to do what is necessary for economic survival (especially the way the economy is at the moment). While my first instinct is to tell you to stay away from them because they will work to pay you as little as possible, meaning both mileage pay, detention, etc., and will either outright lie to you or misrepresent the facts. However, if you are having trouble getting work in the industry, I feel it is better to deal with someone like them for 6 months to a year than not be driving at all. If you do decide to go with them, I'd advise you to have another gig lined up before you leave them (and believe me, you will want to leave them as soon as possible). Other than what I mentioned above, and the fact that you'll feel like a suspected criminal or nut case when you deal with their personnel in Salt Lake City (your only offense being a driver for them), their system while you're out on the road is easy to work with. I wouldn't know this for sure as I have been away from them for almost four years, but I suspect by what I've read in this forum, they have definitely gotten worse from a driver's perspective. If you have any specific questions, I'll try to answer them for you. Lastly, if they are your only hope of driving, go for it. If not, be patient for something else to come along. It will be worth your wait in the long run. Good Luck!

If i am understanding you right you have 14 yrs exp but no OTR in the last 3 years but still driving T/T in the last 3 years? If that is the case you need to look at smaller companies or independent fleet owners. Someone else will hire you with that much experience regardless of the last3 years not being OTR . It may take a little while to find the right one but i would consider CRE an absolute last resort. I would go to Schneider or JB before i would to CRE. JMO
