It seems to run quite well, if it wasnt so dang rough with the spring ride, I would be more than happy with the truck!(so far)..Come out next fall, I will be short of drivers for fall harvest!![]()

I was afraid you were going to give-up on the old truck. As far as driving it for a week I need to stay here and drive my truck. Who knows about this fall? Trucking is a day by day adventure.
I use to drive a 1979 G.M.C. Brigadier. It had a 6V92 Detroit in it. It smoked un-like any truck I have ever seen. I drove that truck for 3 years and worried about the excessive smoke every day. That truck is still running to day. It is used as a yard dog. -
WRONG!
1100 or 1200 is fine for an elctronic motor. Don't take that big cam over 1000 or your going to be replacing lots of parts. 900 is safe. 1000 okay but not for real long.
black is good. mechanical motors smoke. If it starts turning white you have problems (not including when it's cold, they all smoke white/blue when cold)

It's probably had the fuel turned up on it. They used to do that on the older motors. Mash the gas and the black smoke would roll. Get in a hard pull and the black smoke would roll. It was no big deal.

Greenpeace will probably hate me for saying this, but I kind of enjoy seeing those black smoke clouds blot out the sun.

Amen to that. I miss the sound of the old kw with the cummins dad drove just hearing those motors bring back memory's. Can't remember of it smoking never paid attention to that but i know for sure it smoked and ran quick for a stock motor.
