I don't think such a thing exists Non CDL. I would have to reach deep towards a medical Lab bag of samples in a courier messenger 4 wheel car with a D license transporting same to a lab in little rock or wherever for testing in hourly pay. We used to run a small colt the hell out of DC out of Hagerstown with what is essentially interoffice mail delivered the courier way in person between a corporation in one city such as say Silver Springs across to Say Alexandrea VA. No CDL in sight for that.

You talk about straight truck. The only straight trucks engaged in HOT critical mail or packet work have sleepers on them (Aka Panther etc) and are engaged in CDL Work.

You seem to want to avoid anything to do with CDL and mixed with your hopes its not a possible result. The Federal Government in Interstate Commerce routinely requires CDL down to one ton pickup trucks if necessary.

You cannot be a "Truck driver" running around the USA and be outside of our entire CDL structure and federal interstate and other rules and regulations therein.

Jobs are not hard to come by as a newbie. Trucking companies will hire you both to run teams the day you graduate from cdl school. Some will pay for cdl school or reimburse you if you pay for school yourself.
Where are you on the east coast?

Some companies will provide free cdl school, lodging, meals for you both.
Schneider and Covenant will also train you both at the same time in the same truck after school graduation.
Here's 3 to check out that are team friendly and female driver friendly. All three can arrange free cdl school for both of you and team you together.

Stay away from box trucks, I have 4 26' straight trucks that I'm trying to get rid of. Tractor is the route you want to go. I learned that the hard way.

If you're none CDL dont over look expediter work as with 2 people you maybe able to get into time critical stuff.

There is also hotshot both car loads and flat deck you can do with a under 26k lbs cdl limit.

There are lots of guys doing hotshot work and expediter work with out CDLs. They do have DOT and MC numbers and do run ELD/logs but they dont have to deal with ifta as example.

You can run a 1 ton, f550 or a FL60 with no air brakes if you like. The key is staying under 26k lbs. Meaning the best set up is a 1 ton single wheel and tandem single wheel trailer. This way Truck and trailer weigh under 15k lbs combined leaving you the 10-11k lb limit you can carry on those light weight trailers.

I have my CDL and I'm in the process of getting my MC/DOT numbers now. Even though I do have my cdl I will be running a non CDL set up with a single real wheel F350 and a 30-35ft trailer.

I can haul either 2 cars or general flat bed freight with this set up. Roughly 10-11k of cargo. When you run like this you are playing the partial game.. You stack a lot of little loads that the big trucks dont want. Usually it doesn't pay as much to take a single 10k lbs partial load, you instead get two or three 3k lbs loads that pay lower than a big truck will accept but when stacked you end up getting 2 50-3.50 per mile with a pick up truck..

Who really gives a #### if some guy thinks you are a real truck driver or not.... it's about how much money you are making and keeping..

There us some niche freight that pays well, finding it that isn't covered and a waiting list to cover it would be the problem though. I had a friend that delivered airplane parts all over the country, he ran out of Ok and had a gooseneck, but about half the loads he threw in his 3/4 ton pickup and delivered them.
There is also the rv trailer delivery guys,, most run out of indiana it sems like, but to all points US and Canada, I don'tt think it is big money, but guys make a living at it.
I had a friend pulled them with a big truck, under his own authority for a while, he only took Canadian loads as they paid more.
I used to see a couple on the alcan, that drove a motor home and pulled a travel trailer to Alaska, then would fly back for another one. Iirc, the dealer in Alaska is who paid them.
