I beg to differ, May's trucks are turned down to 60 mph. My buddy at May was cracking up when I said I would blow his doors off with my 62mph "hotrod" :biggrin_25525:

I turned in my Swift co truck after 2 mo of no miles and all of the bs.
I drive for an o/o who has several trucks leased to Swift, MUCH better!

I didn't get a good nights sleep last Sat and was slated to drive Sunday. Although I was dragging, I took off as scheduled. Due to mechanical issues, we had to go back to the terminal, and to tell you the truth I was relieved. I could definitely see how a few bad nights would impair a driver's ability to safely drive a truck. No sense in having HOS if your living environment isn't conducive to being rested.

Some drivers started to carry small portable generaters with them but D.O.T. started to crack down on them, (I'd be worried about exshaust and fire myself) I even seen one driver who cut a whole in the back of his sleeper and put a a/c window unit in there

I seen a guy that did this too. It looked really hokey though, he used a 4x4 post to brace the ac unit against the catwalk.

Take some time to peruse this thread about Swift.
    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...vorite-trucking-company-here/78913-swift.html

I have been reading on a lot of forums about Swift, and this one thread had more information from actual Swift drivers and recent newbs than any other site I have found.

Good luck with your search for a carrier!

EVERYONE is slow ! All the carriers have reduced fleet size and many are taking away benefits . Schneider just took holiday pay away from drivers . Freight keeps declining . Carriers have hundreds of applications on file . You need something . So do thousands of other students but the jobs aren't there .

I would like to know how to hook up a generator. I mean after all, i do have a microwave and TV in my truck that i cannot use because my 400w cigarette lighter inverter just dont have enough 'kick'. I did see this Swift driver in an International, who made his truck look a little ghetto, had a fitted piece of plywood in his passenger window, with a smal. A/C unit. thing worked, and i bet he was super comfortable (which is all i would care about) but geeeze....his truck looked like something owned by the Clampets from the Beverly Hillbillys.:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

oh, and i can tell you this. My DM told me last friday that this next week, he was taking his one week off without pay (another cost cutting measure thought up by swift). I went MT yesterday, almost exactly 24 hrs ago. There was a mixup, and the load was to be a live unload, the customer wanted me to drop the trailer, and with the proper okay from the company, i did. I sat for 12 hours, then was told to go to Home Depot for an MT trailer....with no preplan. I didnt want to start my clock to run 14 miles to pick up an MT, but i did thinking they'd get me a load. Now its been 24 hours since i went MT, and i'm still sitting. Had my DM been there, i'd have had a load out of Monroe Township, NJ or something. Good thing there is a nice cigar bar 5 mi down the street.

I do my best to not idle. i would like to think i'm under 10% for idle for the month...but i refuse to not idle when its over 85 and 85% humidity. it wont happen. ill run the truck for 30-40 min with the A/C blowing full blast, then let it sit for 90 min to 2 hours, but how the heck can you get a good nights sleep roasting in the truck, then expect to be safe on the road.

I was in the terminal in Richmond, and there was an ad in the laundry room for a guy looking for a solo or team to drive his 2009 T-2000. Thought about asking about driving it...but i'm sure the pay isnt much better. And besides, it might have a built in fridge, AND he might let me bring my small dog on the truck. =)
