I just had to reply to the person who said that Marten gives clean and ready trucks. I just started work for Marten, I had asked the recruiter if I would be able to have a truck that had not been smoked in. "NO PROBLEM" yea right. My truck is almost four years old driven by a chain smoker. Filthy, filthy dirty, they said they would have it cleaned again but what's the use. If they can't clean it the first time. At least they said they were sorry which is different that USA Truck who is just Sorry. I have high hopes for Marten, only been with them for one week so I won't say anything bad about them. I'm really sorry about the truck, I'm a non smoker and the fumes really bother me. To make matters worse my truck is a KW so you can imagine, small, really small and filthy, smoky. What fun truck driving is.

Ok, the truck is 4 yrs old big deal do you know what that means?Think about it for a min.........You will be getting a new truck soon that truck will be traded in soon.
And small? The kw's have 72" areo sleepers......What did you come out of a 130" ICT sleeper?Sure the cabs of a kw and pete 379 is alittle narrower but the sleeper is about the same size so whats the difference?
At orentation if the truck was not clean enough they would have cleaned it for you.I went to orentation in Ontario and there was a guy that got a old freightliner that was still a little dirty inside...shop said not a prob they sent the detailer out there and got it clean.I didn't have that problem though seeing that I own my truck.
You should be more worried about getting the miles and having a job than the fact that the truck is 4yrs old or it's to small or it has been smoked in.
For the smoke part go to wally world head to auto section and get the rv air freshiner they are about 5" around and 2" thick and cost about $3 each put one behind your seat and one in the bunk that will help.

Have to disagree with you there, kelgar. Some people can tolerate smoked-in trucks, like smokers (although I've actually known smokers who can't stand cigarette-smelling cabs!). But the one's that've been chain-smoked in for years, with yellow ceilings and cigarette burns everywhere, well, those $3 RV air fresheners (I know the one's your talking about) ain't gonna do it. You can bomb the interior with aerosols, sprinkle carpet freshener and let it air out for a week, and that smoke smell is gonna come back. I've awakened in the middle of the night, gasping for air because of the smoke smell in a truck. Never again. I wish the cigarette smell didn't bother me, but it does.

Ok Kelgar, seems you missed the point alltogether. I could care less how old the truck is as long as it runs, the point about it being 4years old was that it had been smoked in for 4 years. You can't just remove 4 years of nicotine and since this is my rolling bedroom I shouldn't have to put up with that nasty, filthy, disgusting habit. The KW is small, really small and I have the lumps on my head to prove it. Oh, before I forget, having an older truck is NOT a guarantee that you are about to get a NEW truck. You are wrong, wrong, wrong. Already asked. Was told that I would get a different truck but they couldn't guarantee anything. Anyway, today the power inverter took a dump and blew out my tv and cooler. That's about $200. for the tv and another $120 for the cooler but I get to lay here and smell the stinch of the previous drivers who were to lazy to take their smokes outside. Thank you smokers.

So why didn't you buy one of those power strips, that protects against power bumps/ brown outs?
I have one in my truck, runs all the time my tv, or computer is pluged in, never had a problem.

That sounds about par for the course. I remember years ago when I was driving, 99% of truck drivers smoke. I was one of the few that didn't. Most of them hate their lives and don't care about their health. They are poor, and feel they have nothing to live for. Most suffer from low self-esteem, a very pathetic life.

There was a time a could stand the smell of smoke in my truck. Now after two ex wives, I enjoy a cigar from time to time. People always are telling me how bad they are for my health, and I reply yea thats what they told George Burns.:biggrin_255: Try some febreze, spray it around your truck,it really helps.

Well iI say if they think they are to good to scrub and clean and deodorize, then choke on all that smoke that is causing so much agony in your life.
