Hi everyone! I has my 1st weigh station, level 1 inspection on RT 84 in Union CT. I got a big pink OSS sticker on my windshield!!!! I had a broken rear leafspring that only superman could find and a loose rear brake shoe that is behind a dust shield. I was stranded there for 5 hours with no water, food, and to make it all that much worse, dead cell battery!! Luckly some of the other OSS over the road drivers let me use theirs!! (I drive a local B truck, but have a class A, got my license january 30 2009). $450.00 tow back to base and a $270.00 ticket for the company and still pay me my hourly wage. My boss never does any pm to the truck and just ignors my pretrip inspection/verbal complaints about the truck. I really glad this happened because they must have put thousands into the truck this week and fixed alsolutely EVERYTHING!!!!! Everything from all new leaf springs to bushings, u joints, even new seat belts!!!EVERYTHING!!!!! So thats my story!!!
Had my 1st weight station, level 1 inspection!!

Weight station? they mean they ask you to get out and weigh how much the driver is? if that is the case, i better get a 'oversize load' banner just to be legal. =)
Baack Thanks this. -
I think many truckers would need that oversize banner judging from the last trip I made to a truck stop
-
You must have saw the one I did.
It was a good thing the truck stop had free standing double doors. -
Good thing the DOT found the problems before you killed somebody or yourself. I hope you thanked them.

As a matter of fact I did thank them!!! The truck was a death trap!! My boss has no idea what Federal Motor Carrier laws are, and could care less!!! It took me 3 weeks just to get a new drag link put in! I had to go the HR dept. for that!

Good deal!!! I know what you mean about boss's caring less about things like that. If you ever have to you can just pull in the scales and requests a level 1, that way you know it will get fixed, and within 2 weeks. Obviously don't tell your boss though that you requested it, and bring some snacks next time. That leaf spring pack could have been very bad news if it had come apart. I've had 2 level 1's and a level 3 in the last half year. The last level 1 was hazmat also on the last day of the blitz. Not a single problem any of the times. The fellow in front of me got put oos though on that last one. Well take it easy man and be safe.krispb Thanks this.
