It blows my mind that large trucking companies use Hire Right/DAC. I was a manager at a Fortune 50 company and the only things our HR department would verify about a former employee's employment history was their employment start date, end date, and salary. That's it. No derogatory comments or comments of commendation were shared with prospective employers. In today's litigious environment, this is what a vast majority of medium and large companies do. To do otherwise can be costly.

Edit: I also forgot to add, HR also verified "Job Title"

I seriously doubt that fortune 50 company has to follow new driver regulations as stringent as FMCSA is. The whole reason for DAC to consolidate information so the mega can go to one place and get all the required information..

That makes sense. I often see people on here making the claim, "most" carriers don't use DAC, which sounds like it may be true. So are you saying the smaller carriers harvest the information from the individual data sources on their own vs. DAC which is the consolidated data the megas use. It still baffles me that carriers knowingly put inaccurate derogatory comments on DAC and are obviously not worried about getting sued.

Most don't. DAC costs money and for the smaller places they would rather have the HR lady do the paperwork as she is already employed.
The megas hire so many it's cheaper to outsource it.

When I was thinking about going back to wrenching and got a offer at trans am I had to drug test but didn't have to pee so I was sitting in the office pounding coffee with the girl that did employment verification for the drivers so I got to overhear the phone calls. "Hi this is so and so from trans am Trucking is this who I speak to for employment verification? I calling about John Doe, I have him as a driver for your company from X/xx/xxxx to x/xx/xxxx.....thank you very much. That's where the calls ended. I heard her make a bunch of em. It seemed like she was just verifying that they actually worked where they said they did as a driver.

that phone call she was making was most likely the first to verify, just to get someone into orientation, where i can assure you that a deeper background check is done, and from that, many get sent home, if the deeper checking does not bode well.

That's what's documented ... I've been a manager at a fortune 50 ... The HR folks all know each other, they attend the same conferences, they network and they jump from company to company ... and when it comes to hiring they use thier contacts and back channels to to background check ... Plus the operational managers that the employee will work for have thier own contacts and back channels.

It was created by Swift to blacklist drivers that expose the trucking industries abuse. Find a good small company and settle in. I can't say enough for Balkan Express out of Ft Worth. Long haul and no sitting around. I gross about $1800 a week and usually drive around 4k miles a week. They have nothing but long hauls and more loads than they can drive. I like my 2020 Volvo with heated leather massage seats and big fridge. Trucks go 71mph

I have to admit that I was a handful at the OTR carriers I worked at. I did my job but I didn't win any team building awards if you know what I mean. If companies cared about anything other then my driving record, length of employment or places of employment, I probably would be doing something else.

Unsatisfactory? I went over my reports since the 90's & none of them use those kinds of terms.
It simply asks if driver is eligible for rehire or not.

Even though you had a walk away lease, your credit rating could of dipped. A friend of mine was just denied a land mortgage because she cancelled a couple lines of credit & it dropped her score.
Criminal, Driving, Credit, Employment verification is what they care about in my experience.
