Congrats Biggja22
Keep me informed as I have placed Central on the number one spot on my short list. What ever you do, keep posting for me. I want to learn all about it.
New question - and yes JJ I have read the whole thread. LOL (Hope you like that, considering that I really don't know you.)
On another thread they where talking about interviewing. Clean cloths, collared shirt, jeans, (I assume tennis shoes are ok - or should I wear boots?), hair cut - I get all that. But they also said clean shaven.
I have a full beard, closely cropped. I have had it for so long that I don't think I would recognize myself if I shaved it off. I want the job, so if you guys say clean shaven - I will be clean shaven.
thoughts? Thanks

Mountain, read from when I started(2 weeks ago) up until now and you will get a good picture of how things go. As for the beard, you can keep it. I have seen alot of people with them. Clean clothes are a must but you don't have to wear a collared shirt unless you want to. I just finished the school and am getting ready to go out on the road for about 4 weeks. Any questions, just ask. I will be on for about another day and then I will be gone.

don't worry about the beard it is not a factor I have a gotee just as long as it is presentable. Shoes are fine because you have to be able to feel the throttle and clutch and it is had for some to get the feel wearing boots.
just wear comfortable clothes and maintain a professional, presentable appearance. There is no interview you will all be in a classroom environment.

Now that was a long winded post going nowhere
There is no kick back for bringing on new drivers and as far as being true Mr Wolfden has had problems from the start. I no JJ and Jess and both speak the truth the bottom line is this is not a job as I said many posts ago to Mrs Wolfden THIS IS A LIFE STYLE CHANGE and it isn't for everyone. I started out with the worst D/M but I hung in there been here over a year they fired him and I got a new one shes has her moments but I stand my ground with her. I don't care who tells you what or who you talk to you won't no if the job is right for you untill you try it. JJ loves trucking and has been in it for a long time and he decided to train for one reason only and that was to train you to run a truck.
For all of you new drivers or wanna be's you have a 50 50 chance of this working for you no more no less and you better understand that. Central dose have its problems and you will be just a number to them make the choice based on how you feel and not on what you hear.
Jess and JJ are good people and I've none them for over a year and I will stand behind them. What happened to Wolfden may or may not happen to you thats the chance you will have to take.
THE ONLY ONE FULL OF **** is Wolfden.jess-juju and The Challenger Thank this. -
Since I'm located out of the Seattle area, is there any problems getting home time? Also, should I count on being gone at least 6 weeks initially (2 weeks of class, 4 weeks with a trainer, and then home time or do I need to do 2 more weeks of driving before home time)?
I've been following this board for a couple weeks now and it's been very informative. Thank you to everyone for keeping the information rolling. -
The school is almost three weeks long, if you get a trainer on the Wednesday after you finish orientation.
Lately there is no wait on trainers as there aren't many students passing all there tests.
The training time with a trainer is 28 days or longer just depends on the miles, the truck gets 14500 miles (I think) the truck has to do with the student driving 75%.
So you will be gone 8-9 weeks unless they can get you a load home straight after upgrade.
You will have a lot of stuff to learn in that 28 days.
You shouldn't have a problem getting home as Central deliver to that area a fair bit. -
I appreciate the insight. Now I can inform my other half and give her a better tentative time frame. Thanks again! -
Your very Welcome!
Any questions you have ask away and someone will try answer! -
Well, here I am on try #2 for Central; and here I am failing again because of blood pressure. I really don't understand it because I brought my medical certificate with me for the 2 years and everything was fine. I get here and my bp was a couple of points to high and I couldn't get it down for the life of me, then once I saw it was elevated then I got more stressed and it went to 210/105. This time, I went to the Medical Examiner at Central and we had a conversation. He wrote me a little note to my doctor and said that should be sufficient to get some medication and he was kind enough to recommend getting on the meds before I try for the third time. He couldn't explain why it is fine in Vegas, but once I get here it's through the roof.
I was going to go to Swift and England, but after I spoke with my room mate who drives for Central he said to be patient, get the medication and he would be my trainer when I get done. He has every confidence in me.
That was nice to hear, but I wonder if he either won't be strict enough with me, or if he will be too strict because we are acquainted. Has anybody else driven with a friend and what was the experience? Maybe it would be better to go with a complete stranger huh.
He let me get the first look inside the cab of his truck and I had no idea they are so small; kinda like a closet. I was surprised because they look so much larger from the outside. He says it's not so bad and you just have to learn to deal with it. Anyways, I'm going to do the 60 days and try again. Maybe it wasn't meant to be but I don't like to give up until I'm strapped down. Jason at Central told me I'm not the only one that has this problem and usually by the third time everybody passes ok. He says a lot of people don't pass something along the way after the first week and end up having to do another 2 weeks before the road tests.
So, here I go on the 60 day countdown. Crossing my fingers, toes and eyes.
