Delo or Rotella

Ts are getting $240 for an oil/filter change? GeeZUZ!

I have always done my own, always. Right now 10 gallons of oil and 3 filters plus a little grease runs me about $150.

I've also used nothing but Rotella.

Hey who's got the latest delavac truck calender? Oh wait, wrong oil company LOL!

 

Paule is right about Schaeffer's. As far as I know they are the only manufacturer still using moly. I run the full synthetic (Schaeffer's 9000) and it has done wonders in my motor. Oil consumption is down by half, oil temps dropped by about 5 degrees, and if the temps do climb they drop a lot faster than before. Schaeffer's grease is also excelent. If ya get a hold of some take a little bit in your palm and try to mix it with water. The water will just bead up and run right out. If you do this with many other greases the water will mix right into the grease. Schaeffer's grease is also pretty tacky and will stay in the u-joints better than any other than I have found.

Paule is also right about the free delivery. I think a person has to have over a $350 dollar order to get this though. The deals I get from my local distributor consist of the following. Free delivery like I said, Some months (about every other) they have specials:buy a barrel of oil and get a case of grease (36 tubes if I remember right) for free ($100 value). Also when I buy a drum of oil I get 10 free oil samples. Now your local guy may have some different deals and once ya strike up a freindship with him you may get some even better deals.

With the current oil I'm running I can run out to about 30,000 miles before a oil change with no bypass system. Once I get my spinner bypass system on I should be able to go out to 60,000+.

 

Truck calender = good oil???? only in marketing dept

Playboy calender = good p--sy ?? only in our minds

Oil is oil. Calender just a bragging bonus.....(grin)

As a habit,I stick with what works. Mobile and Chevron are perfectly fine oils too, I've little doubt.

 

I agree Winchester Mag. If they werent good oil, i assume they would be out of business????

 

10-4. Back when I started doing my own PM services in the early 90s, Rotella was the go to oil that everyone used. I don't remember delo or others being players back then. They were probably around, to be found, but since Rotella was the leader, it's what everybody used, and I've just stayed with it. No reason to switch.

 

Rotella or Delvac is fine. Really want to help your engine. Add Lucas Oil Stabilizer every oil change. Used it in every truck I owned. Most O/O I know use it just like I did.
