So I have a pre-hire from TMC, and Roehl and am in the process of getting in with Crete.... ug on all the paper work. Having to fill holes in my 5 year employment history back ground.

After spending many many hours reviewing these 3 companies on this site I have for sure ruled out TMC.

Crete seems to have it's problems but was at one time a very reputable company.... looks like it could still work out for someone smart, responsible and dedicated.

Roehl has been called a "mill" and seems like it might be set up to get drivers to sign those lease agreements, pressuring them with all those MPG rules and stuff. But they might be okay too. Many seem to like it alright.

Any insight from people who have worked for these companies? Good and bad?

Go with Crete, no doubt. Roehl is great if you like live loads and being home or sitting often and low pay. Tmc is great if you like low pay and driving a nice peterbuilt. Crete is the best out of these three. You will earn much more, however, you will not get the hometime of Roehl or TMC. But do you want to make money or baby sit company equipment for free?

I live in Nashville so I'm hoping to be "thru" home alot, for my 10 down or 34 restart every now and again. I see a lot of Crete trucks day in and day out here. Pluse I live right at the juncture of 40, 24 and 65. Joy.

    Is this a realistic perspective?

I have been with Roehl nearly 2 years and never once has anyoe from the company mentioned the lease deal to me. I had to call and ask and you must have 6 months with Roehl or 100,000 miles to lease with them. This is how BS is spread. The situation with Roehl as most other companies is where you live and the lanes you run. When I lived outside Atlanta and ran the Southeast I got about 2000 miles a week. When I moved to Texas I started running nearly 3000 a week. Also more than 50% of my loads are drop and hooks not live loads, I talk to Crete drivers all the time and they all complain that sometimes they will sit more than 24 hours between loads. I have never sat that long with Roehl in almost 2 years.

Etch, You failed to mention that you do not get paid by the mile. You are on the "salary program", remember? So you were actually doing better when you ran 2000 miles per week. But wait, I think you were originally getting paid by the mile and your miles were so low and you were scared that you switched to the salary program for veterans, which is a collosal rip off, because when you went on salary, Roehl started running you 3000 miles per week, like they run most of their salary drivers. Dont salary van drivers gross about $700 per week, take home $500 maybe, after taxes and insurance, boy, thats sounds like a sweet deal for running 3000 miles per week!! And what a great program to exploit and honor our vets at the same time. You would take home around $750.00 running 3000 per week as a new driver (getting paid by the mile). So Etch, a good while back you were considering leaving Roehl because your miles were so low, remember? Then you switched to the glorified welfare program for drivers. Also, since you run 7/4 7/3, when averaged out, your only taking home $400 per week. Man, OTR companies love guys like you. And now that your 2 years is up for the salary program, your scared to go back to being just a company driver on mileage pay, so your going to lease instead. What a great idea!!! Good luck to you, and stop pumping your BS:biggrin_25525:

I also am a licensed student driver. I last drove over 5 years ago so have to go thru the training program. I have offers from both Crete and Roehl among others. Crete is opening a new terminal close to my house and has both a dedicated and southeast regional fleets I qualify for. I am on the fence between Roehl and Crete.
