I live in the midwest (quincy Il.) does anyone know any good companies with greast home time in the area? Company doesn't need to be local or based close to here, maybe lines that run here alot. I'm graduating soon & need to be home most weekends if possible.

hey cool I'm from Rushville! (Virginia IL now and lived in springfield for a bit) I also want to know hopefully we can share what we learn. I've learned NOT to go to Star or TMC. They are bad.

Get the names of carriers running hopper bottoms. Ask local feed mills what carriers deliver to them . They mostly run regional and aren't abusive like OTR carriers . There's a lot of them running the Midwest

I'd second that. It's good work, low stress. The lines can be a little long but compared to the stories about waiting hours at a grocery dc, it's nothing to wait an hour at an elevator.
I see a lot of DOT Foods trucks running around there. I've heard some of their drivers on the cb talking about the company and they seemed ok with it at the time. This was 2 years ago. I don't know much about them other than that though. -
Does anyone know anything about Shaffer Trucking? The little bit I've read online they don't sound to bad for students & they run alot of midwest lines where I'm from. Any help would be good.

Dot foods is not hiring right now out of Illinois but you might go talk to them for future prospect. I run for them out of our Indiana DC. McNaytrucking is out of quincy they pretty much run midwest. They do alot of runs for us at Dot. Ufkes trucking and farms, can't remember where they are out of. Stay away from STAR, sisbro, sharkey, definately. Lots of local companies in that area running hoppers as mentioned before. Just write down the name and location when you see one and look up their number and give them a call. WW Transport out of Iowa is a good company also got a friend who drives for them.
