Hello fellow truckers,
Just like to report on CRST, a company that's not honest about a lot of things. If you give them your blood they give you nothing in return. They will stick you in the back at will. They have excuse after excuse to take your money for one reason or another, and think you're stupid enough not to understand. They are not responsive to your needs when you're on the road and will leave you high and dry. They also have excuses as to why they can't route you home when it's your home time. And if you turn down a road after 6 weeks on the road (understandably) and your home time was 3 weeks ago, they will ask you to get off their truck 800 miles from your home and make you find your own way home. I would not recommend this company to any drivers or trainees for any reason if they want to be respected.

I had no idea trucking companies were so bad. No wonder so many truckers drive so much, I can't imagine how you all do it to survive.

Greetings and Salutations!
Ok! I was about ready to sign with CRST and I found this thread. I have the bucks to go to my own school and not go with CRST. Who knows what is the best company to go with just out of school.

Some of the reasons that I quit were as follows ( "this was over 7 yrs ago")
#1 having to stay out a month at a time and not getting the miles to prove it. 3800 - 4000 max.
#2 Got laid over in Dallas for 3 days, they clamed there was no freight
#3 Put me with a partner that was 67 and decided he wanted to be a truck driver. My first partner had enough cense to quit after the 1st month. I am not discriminating against my second partner because of his age. He fell asleep at the wheel once that I know of. He backed the truck in to a ditch even though I was on the ground spotting him and telling him to stop. He also free wheeled down Mt Eagle because he wasnt used to a truck that was governed. At that point when we picked up a load in NJ. I had him drop be off at Truck World on the way back thru. I promptly called dispatch and told them to shove it. (I forgot to mention I called dispatch about this guy on numerous occasions).
By the time all was said and done I was 4 or 5 grand in the hole, but it was a good learning experience. In answer to your question Just Quit you will be better off in the long run. You will have to pay back the money for there "FREE" truck driver training, but you can work out a payment plan with the finance co. -
This is one policy I can agree with. I used to run team for Fedex ground from Columbus OH. to Portland OR. . We ran in to a lot of bad weather in the winter time. The contractor I worked for had a policy that chains were only to get you out of trouble not to get you in to it. -
I remember when CRST (Cedar Rapids Steel Transport) made you team dive in GMC ASTRO Cabovers with a tiny sleeper,NO bunk beds as the Astro's were flat top in the early 80's.REMEMBER THOSE Turbo???
-
I remember them, and I liked the Astro, the wrap around dash with the Johnny Bar mounted to the dash. I remember them (CRST Trucks) having a roof fairing that could be raised or lowered. Dang thing looked stupid.
Anybody ever notice the GMC General was an Astro with a hood and no doghouse?
