Cylinder Heads - Cat C15, C16, C18 and 3406E

You'd have to post some S/N's for a more accurate answer.

There are 16 different prefixes for the C15 truck engine.

There are 2 different C16 truck engine prefixes.

There are 3 different C18 truck engine prefixes.

The 3406E has 7 different prefixes in their truck engine lineup.


The above numbers don't include S/N breaks within each prefix either.

 

E model and c model heads will fit on acerts, I know that much, because it is very common to deacert them here with the other heads.

I better edit, at least some of them will, I am not 100% sure all of them will. The c18 may be a stretch, I have a friend that installed one in his truck, but he just bought a crate engine.

 

The e-model and c-15 use the same head. The early c15s (no hyphen) same head as well.

If you mean KT3406E on Ytube that guy is awesome. 3406c through C15 MBN bridge engine all use the same crank. And acert cranks are very close but different journal, and bearing sizes, and acert use 4 bolt main caps which seems very interesting.

 

Rod caps. Mains are still 2 bolt. Throw is different on twin turbos. Jumps from 14.6l to 15.2

From what I understand, journals are bigger and rods are beefier. Something about the block is stiffer too, as it doesn't twist as bad when you put a lot of power to them.

 

You are talking about the early c, I am talking about the c-15 which is also a 3406.
