Windy as forecasted
You can zoom, set elevations, for precip, etc.
While I was involved with a tanker project up there, another driver in our company watched a box get blown over in front of him on 80. I watched several "dance" in a way that was not very appealing, saw wrecks that might have been wind or falling asleep, pointed dead off the road. Saw the wreckage of a nice vintage wood-paneled RV trailer camper special that was shattered and pointing the wrong way coming off the hill from Cheyenne.
I used to take 10 up there by Elk because no one else would rest on that exit and wake me up, plus I like "bad weather", I'd get up and go hiking up that dirt road.
With tankers I didn't feel much cross-draft when I ran across 80. Those LTL doubles guys were sawing in the wind and I was waiting for a good place to get by their governed nightmares.Lepton1, SteveScott and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
when i was doing my run up to ME on the turnpike, there would be a speed limit warning flashing about ice ahead,,,
i was fortunate enough that when i ran thru WY, the weather was fine, but the deer, ( or whatever they have up there running across the highway) was a whole other issue...literally hundreds on both sides of the road, suddenly running across, exchanging sides..??
do what YOU FEEL is comfortable under any and all circumstances, and NEVER discount warnings.
the possibility DOES EXIST, that if something happens, all the employer and the insurance company have to do is check what the conditions were at the time of your event..
whether or not that leads to you being charged with a preventable or not is up to them at that point, up to and including you being fired, for disobeying a traffic control device. -
As you can see, today is a mild day. But this clearly shows why it's always so windy in Wyoming: Utah blows and Nebraska sucks.PacoTaco Thanks this. -
That stretch of 25 going north out of cheyenne gets it's share of trucks too. I slept there one night and headed out early, the first 5 trucks on the side all had swift on them. I thought to myself, they probably hated answering the phone the night before.lol

The color chart at the bottom shows precipitation intensity. The wind is represented by moving lines. The faster the wind, the faster the lines move.

My thoughts is everybody needs to drive according to YOUR ability, if you think it is too dangerous for you to be driving, it is and don't let anybody tell you different.
Some folks get mad because a driver is over cautious in curves, mountains, traffic, what ever, I don't I will get around them eventually if I need to, or let them around when I need to. I would rather follow an overcautious driver than park because he done went and closed down the road any day.
