US 93 Kingman to Phoenix

What are you smoking? It's 4 lane the whole way from king man to Las Vegas.

 

Jerome. I was down there camping and riding mountain bike for a couple weeks. No way I’d try it in a truck. Not so much the switchbacks but it looked like the corners in town would get you.

 

That's it. No you can't make the switchbacks. There's lots of guys from Werner, etc, get on the news trying.

 

Original comments I was replying to were about roads off 93 between Wickenburg and Kingman, that stretch of 89 down from Prescott is not as bad as going to Jerome on 89A, but it's also got signs for no big trucks and drivers still get caught on it, as I mentioned. He called me and asked what I thought and read me the signs saying not to and did it anyway. :^)

Jerome/89A is @Gearjammin' Penguin 's favorite road and destination.

 

I did it one time with a 53-foot reefer.

Reminds me of when I had to try Red Mountain in a bobtail deadhead, pulling up out of Ouray there was a flatbed coming down; the driver looked haunted.

 

I took up both lanes going around all the corners and it was dangerous as hell doing it in the daytime without knowing if someone was coming in the opposite direction

 

Red mountain is my kind of road, the first time I went over was basically on accident, I missed my turn. lol
I had 51,000 on the deck at night in a snowstorm, I had to go back in the daytime a few times to see the scenery I missed out on. lol

 

Honestly, the one thing that really bugs me about running Jerome is that I hate those times having to block traffic making a delivery. I've been known to walk the freight 1/4 mile down the hill if it'll fit on my 2-wheeler(if it's a 500# skid, well, too bad, go around).

Oh, and BTW, there is no 'Nothing' on the 93 any more. It's now just an abandoned building and a cell tower.

 

It's been abandoned for a few years.
