I drive a Daycab Columbia and recieve Per Diem pay because my job takes me out of state and away from home for weeks at a time. I run a logbook because I run more than 100 air miles from my base of operation. I turn out 500 to 600 miles each day and I fuel at truckstops. The only difference between what I do and being over the road is that I sleep in a motel room not a sleeper. Yet what I do is not recognised by any of the major carriers and does not qualify me for an OTR position. I know things are tough out here right now but to be told that what Im doing does not qualify as OTR experience is a real "Slap in the face". Im just looking for an OTR driving position that will provide me with year round work and a steady income. Are there any carriers out there that would recognise my experience?

That sounds like they are just being anally picky about the definition of OTR LOL... I do know that I was talking to a company a while back and they asked how many states I had delivered to.. when I told them CO,AZ and CA (based in CA) they said that had to have been to 3 states other than home state to count as OTR experience....

In your case... ya might be able to get by with out pointing out the daycab/hotel set up as a thought...

These days, or at least in a normal economy, there are newbs fresh outta driving school as well as people who can't even speak Engreesh getting hired OTR. With your 10 years driving experience, I can't believe this is that hard.

I tried getting them to answer that one for me as well... They seemed to be more concered with how many states Delivered to as compared to having drivin through LOL ... but this was like 2 months ago that they had asked that and we all know how picky everyone was being then and still is now...

As stated before just leave out the fact of driving a daycab and hotels. I did the same thing your talking about at one time and never had a problem getting my next gig but that was several years ago. Either way it shouldn't matter. Just leave those details out your still being honest.:yes2557:
