My best advice is if you choose to go this route. Make sure to check references of possible employees, run background checks, and check driving records, and possible criminal history. I own a trucking company with all early model Peterbilt's pulling oversize, and mostly Cattle. Every driver i have or employ goes through these steps. I have had all my drivers for many years, the lowest person driving for me has been here 10 years.

There may not be a shortage, but there's more of a shortage than any other area of employment I've worked in. Normally I'd have to work for a job, interview, and explain everything on my resume. Take multiple interviews, stand on my head, answer 800 questions correctly..
Trucking I just applied, piss clean and provided a clean mvr. Automatically hired after passing the easy CDL stuff. Made twice as much my first year than I did after 10 years working in IT fixing computers.
Not saying it easy. It was very stressful learning to drive a truck, and I stuck with it. But there's gotta be a shortage of something somewhere -
well...yes and no...i too have just walked in, and got hired many times.
however, many other jobs, it was not that simple, take UPS for one, and nearly ANY union shop...
been there, done that.. -
If you think there is a shortage of drivers, then you have no business starting a business. You are ill informed and need to do more research.
Not saying dont start it, just start it after a lot more research.
