Most companies NO, at least no big companies, they would rather have someone straight off the tit..
There will be jobs available to where you can get your recent verifiable experience at though, you may just have to look a little harder.

many employers consider you to be a newbie all over again. it's not so much the companies, but the insurance companies that dictates what goes on, in the hiring process..

Most states will upgrade your license back to a CDL-A when you have a current DOT physical.
Take you physical DOT card to the DMV and show it to them.
Contact the company you want to work for and let them know what's going on and that you're ready to hit the road.

I know insurance has a roll in it, but.
Most megas want a school grad or 2 years verifiable, and they do not have an insurance co to answer to.
When I was hiring drivers, my insurance company absolutely would not let me hire anybody that hadn't had heir cdl for 2 years, or much of any violations, they never, ever ask for any previous work history.

You have to register your new medical card at the DMV.

Thank you everybody for the replies. I got in touch with the DMV via phone it took an hour but they looked up my license info and I’m good to go as soon as I submit my medical in person to an office.

Maine wont down grade you. In Maine it is a K restriction. Just says that you have to have a medical card if you want to drive commercially.

In Cali all you gotta do is get your medical card renewed and then show it to the dmv and then your good to go, no retest!

This is true. My medical expired in the past and all I did was get my medical up to date and my CDL was good to go. No retaking any tests
